Suggestions from a Professional Wedding Minister
GAZEBO'S Think twice before paying extra for a Gazebo. The Minister and Bride and Groom can not all be in the Gazebo because then none of them can be heard or seen by the audience. Gazebos are hot and airless (except the one at the Governor Jackson House in Redlands, it has a Casablanca fan in the ceiling). The minister usually ends up standing in the doorway of the Gazebo, or, if there are steps, just in front of the Gazebo. An arch is much more attractive and useful.
CORSAGES If you are going to provide corsages for the special women in your wedding, such as mother's, grandmothers, aunts, etc., think about wrist corsages rather than pin-on ones. Some of the summer, light weight materials don't hold a corsage very well, they sag. Some of the more formal materials, such as silks and satins are marked by the pin holes. A small wrist corsage, maybe just one open flower, might be cheaper for you, and easier to wear for them.
WEDDING DAY EMERGENCY KIT (as suggested by Bride World) Aspirin or Ibuprofen Baby or talcum powder Bobby pins, white (for veil, etc) White-Out Bottled water Breath mints Cellophane tape Clean sheet (for the bride to dress on. If the floor surface is tile, linoleum, or wood, the static electricity between the dress and the floor may cause the gown to become dirty while dressing.) Clean wite cloth Clear band aids Clear nail polish, for stocking runs Corsage pins Crackers, for nausea Deodorant Extra Stockings Facial tissue or hankerchief Hairspray Hot glue gun and glue sticks Money Nail glue Nail polish Rubber bands Sanitary napins/tampons Scissors Sewing kit Spot remover Static cling spray Toothbrush and toothpaste Tweezers White Chalk
DON'T get married in Southern California in the middle of the summer in the middle of the day (12:00 noon through 4:00 p.m.). And if you must - DON'T ask your audience to sit on metal chairs in the full sun.
