"Murphy was an optimist!"
-O'Toole's comment on Murphy's Law-
by Xtina
The basics of this section are very simple: Murphy Rulez, we all bow to him. *laughs* No, really, I decided to put up a place where odd theories on the poor Sts can be brought out into the light, also meant to be a more "interactive" section than the others ones, for those who want to collaborate. This little nook is dedicated to exploring the ups and downs (mostly downs) of one's luck. Like my banner, for example! Just when I thought it was nice and finished I realised there was a number 7 in the middle of the word "Murphyology"..._; and since I'm not good at Photoshop, and it proves my point, it stayed that way.
How does it work? I'm putting up Murphy's basic rules and telling you why I think they apply to Saint Seiya; the idea is that those who think of another good reason -that is justified by those rules- should mail me at [email protected] to tell me, and I'll put it up. If you have another Murphy-inclined theory that doesn't seem to fit any of said rules send it anyway! (I have a book full of them, so if it's not Murphy, then I'm sure some other pessimist can fit your idea! ^_^;) This is purely for the fun of it, and because I know there is plenty to rant about on this subject. Have fun!
From the Bible of our Lord Murhpy....
Murphy's Law:
If something can fail, it will.
1. If Athena can be kidnapped and put in a near-death situation, it WILL happen.(Toffee)
Corollaries:
1- Nothing is as easy as it looks.
1. Seiya: Yeah, let's climb up a stair case the size of a mountain while we fight the bad guys whose cloths happen to be 100 times better than ours, piece of cake! (Toffee)
2- Everything requires more time to be completed than what you think.
1. Ikki: Twelve hours? Pah! I'll be done in three.(Toffee)
3- If there is a possibility that many things might go wrong, the one that causes the most possible damage will be the one to fail.
1. Meaning, Athena never faces an enemy without also managing to get an arrow through her chest, get trapped on a frozen cliff that's crumbling, get trapped in a flooding pillar and/or get her blood slowly sucked out of her body. It's only fair no? (Toffee)
4- If you discover there are four possible ways through which a procedure might fail, and manage to fix them; then, inevitably - and fast-, a fifth failure option will appear.
1. So Ares is dead thus Sanctuary is safe, Hilda is free thus Asgard is safe, Poseidon is sealed so the world now has time to dry off a bit..w-wha? Hades? Who's Hades? (Toffee)
5- If things are left to chance, they will tend to go from bad to worse.
1. Saga must have known this, after all... it was so OBVIOUS that the all-mighty Gold saints were going to kill Seiya, so why on earth make a plan? (Toffee)
6- Whenever you are about to do something, there will always be something more important to do first.
1. Yeah, let's reconquer Sanctuary! But first.. how about we got that arrow out of our Goddess' chest? (Toffee)
7- Every solution brings new problems.
1. As seen by Shiryu: Riiight, I have defeated Shura so I can pass through his temple... save for the teeny tiny detail that I'm about to become interstellar junk. *sigh* (Toffee)
8- It is impossible to do something truly fool-proof, for they are very ingenious.
1. Shiryu: Don't worry Mu! I'm sure Seiya won't break his cloth again! I mean, he'd have to be smashed into at least ten pillars, dropped from three cliffs minimum and then get blown to bits by a god! How many chances do you see of THAT happening? (Toffee)
9- Nature always takes the side of that little hidden failure.
1. One word: Alberich. (Toffee)
10- Mother Nature is evil.
1. Definitively Alberich. (Toffee)
Murphy's Philosphy:
Smile... tomorrow things will be worse.
1. Sure thing! Who would have thought a Tsunami would take Athena away right after she was rescued from freezing? (Toffee)
Murphy's Constant:
Matter is damaged in direct proportion to its value.
1. Mu: They could have broken some bones, maybe even their necks, but noooo... they just HAD to smash their cloths, again. Who do they think I am? A member of the red-cross? (Toffee)
Quantitative review of Murphy's Laws:
Everything fails at the same time.
1. Seiya: What do you mean "Athena was kidnapped, there are seven new warriors to face plus one God AND the world is being flooded"? (Toffee)
See what I mean? Anyway, if you enjoyed this senseless string of thought, and want to collaborate... mail me and tell me what you think on the subject. Just remember to tell me your name so everyone *snicker* can know what a pessimist you are! ^_^*
