All coaches are responsible for ongoing communication with athletes in their groups i.e. changes in training timetables, race times, help with selection of equipment, as well as providing two written reports on skiing progress one mid season and one at the end of season.

2003 PROGRAMME INFORMATION

TRAINING SCHEMES:

Scheme A: Opt. 1 Full-Time/Academy Senior Programme
  Opt. 2 Full-Time Academy Junior Programme
Scheme B: Opt. 1 July School Holidays/Weekends/Training Week
*Covers FIS, Youth and Junior skiers – (7th June – 28th Sep)
Scheme C Opt. 1 July School Holidays and 8 Weekends (5th July – 14th Sep)
  Opt. 2 July School Holidays and 4 Weekends (5th–20th July,2nd–24th Aug)
Junior Ski Racing 2003 Ski for 12 days over July School Holidays commencing on Sat. 5th July
Introduction Programme: Talk to us re further suitable training after athlete assessment carried out.

Add-On: Training Week - $140.00
School Skiing – WHS Yrs 7/8(5days) = $175, Primary Schools (6days) = $210
Extra Days: Applies to C options only and charged at the daily rate relative to chosen option.

EXPLANATION ON SCHEMES FOR 2003

Athletes:

FIS registered: born 1987 and earlier
Youth Cup Team: born 1989/90 and Nationally registered
Juniors: born 1991 and later, non registered and competing in
The Interfield races, SI Champs and SDSA Champs
   

Team Coronet:
QAST’s top FIS racers will be named to this group through a selection
process beginning mid May/June. These athletes are the flagship of our programme representing QAST Nationally and Internationally throughout the season. This group will be focused at specific racing goals.
Youth Cup Team:
There will be a race circuit at a National level for the best athletes born 1989/90. These children will form what we call our “Youth Cup Team”. They will compete on full length Slalom and GS courses, and will be registered with SRNZ to score points. If you are unsure if your child is eligible for this, please consult the office.

Requirements to be part of the Youth Cup Team are
  Scheme A or B athletes
  Born 1989 or 90
  National points registered through Ski Racing N Z.
  Committed to competing in all the NZ Youth Cup events
  Ineligible for the Interfield and will not attend these events
Please note Children born 1989/90 and wish to race in the Interfield series may do so, and do not require a National licence.


Schemes:
Where do you fit in……….?

Scheme A athletes:
- Academy athletes and Full Time
- Training commences June 7th through to September 28th
- FIS or Nationally registered
Scheme B athletes:
- FIS/Youth Cup and Junior athletes
- Training commences June 14th through to September 28th
Scheme C athletes:
- For all other QAST athletes
- Option 1 covers all Interfields, Southern Champs and South Island Junior Champs. Option finishes on 14th Sep.
- Option 2 covers 3 Junior Interfield races – 6th July, 3rd Aug, 17th Aug and Southern Champs 23/24 Aug. The programme will cover the July School Holidays and the 4 w/e’s will run from 2nd–24th Aug.
Junior Ski Racing Introduction Programme:
- This great introductory offer covers 12 days of skiing commencing Sat. 5th July for keen young skiers and is available for the 1st year only in QAST. An assessment will take place at the beginning and end of the holidays. Children may be upgraded to another scheme after completion of these 12 days and continue ski training if they wish.

Options available if athletes decide to continue training –
  Upgrade to another scheme. Cost difference calculated relative to what has been trained.
  Add on QAST School Skiing. Eligible to children in Wakatipu Basin up to Yr 8.
  Add on JuniorTraining Week 9th – 17th Aug (4 extra training days)

School skiing:
- This provides 5 extra training days for Yrs 7/8 at WHS or 6 extra training days for Queenstown, Arrowtown and St Josephs Primary schools.
JuniorTraining Week:
- This provides 4 extra training days during the week of 9-17 Aug.
