It is very important to properly care for your mare during her gestation.
The following are guidelines provided by Dr. Doug Anderson.

Vaccinations
Be sure to keep up with Rhino vaccination on the 5, 7, and 9th month of pregnancy. On the ninth month of pregnancy your mares should be vaccinated with Flu EWT (Influenza, Eastern & Western Encephalitis and
Tetanus toxoid). This is to increase the mare's immunity to pass on to the foal in the colostrum.

Worming
Worm your mare 30 days prior to foaling and the day after foaling to help prevent worms to the foal and to help the mare to get all the nutrition out of her feed to nurse the foal.

Feeding
All too often we feed our mares to well prior to foaling thus causing, I feel, the watery diarrhea (1/2 -2 days). Mares don't come in strong milking until after they go through foal heat. So there for, i recommend to keep feeding as usual up to birth and after, then start increasing at 8-10 days post foaling.
