Whee, cut-outs. Not bloopers per se...simply scenes that didn't make the cut but didn't have the heart to delete. The phrasing, the concept, the atmosphere...these just didn't quite "fit."
--From chapter 16. Wasn't going the right away, so got cut.--
//Yugi, what is that?//
Yugi blinked several times. /Orange juice./
//Oh. Then what is an orange?//
Yugi put the cup down. /You don't know what oranges are?/
//No,// Yami was silent for awhile. //At least, I don't anymore.//
/I don't understand./
Yami frowned in his soulroom. //I don't know what things are anymore. I know I used to, but I've forgotten...//
Yugi frowned as well. /Why didn't you tell me?/
//I didn't know for sure...// Yami trailed off. //It's just...some things are just blank to me. I can see something and not remember what it is or what it's used for. Like that box thing you opened,// Yami waved towards the refrigerator, //I know it's used for keeping things cold, but I can't remember its name.//
/It's a refrigerator. And oranges are a kind of sweet fruit./ Yugi explained. /But this-- you've just...forgotten stuff?/
//...Apparently.// Yami grimaced. //It is as if there are...holes...in my memory. Parts where things are absolutely blank. I remember Battle City and Joey dueling dark Malik, but I can only remember the end -- the rest of the duel is gone.// Skimming his memory, Yami suddenly had a revelation. //But I don't have any holes in memories involving you.//
Yugi blinked. /That's strange./

--From Chapter 14. Had a bit too much magic, and I wanted to use "A'b sha-i" somewhere else.--
"They come! They come!" Isis cried.
"NO!" Throwing my arms out, I cast my magic once again. I poured it into the ground, deep into the bedrock, where the tremors grew and shook and made all of Egypt tremble.
Clenching my fist, I cried, "A'b sha-i!"
Sand blew up beneath my feet, showering my face. Gritting my teeth,
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. The concept was that Yami would command the magic. Idea came from Mercedes Lackey's novel By the Sword. Just wasn't right. >> Not to mentioned copied. Eh-heh...--
Then the raging flow of magic...paused. It was if I were a dam and it were a waiting wave, and there was something I needed to do before the waters would surge forward.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. Variations of the last part of the magic ceremony thingy. Sadly, all of these were cheesy...it still is...--
"Let the Light redeem my people!"
"I come seeking justice."
"I come as the Redeemer of my people. Go now in peace."
--------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. Death Scene with Jonouchi. A bit awkward.--
At first my mind could not comprehend it. How could it be possible? No, Jonouchi had only tripped, and he would get up and laugh and Seto would make fun of him like he always would. I managed to deceive myself until I felt warm liquid trickle down my neck. Then I could not hide from the truth anymore.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. Death Scene with Jonouchi. I liked this, but it didn't flow into the next part. .--
He snarled. "A bloody, damned assassin came in here and we didn't even have the sense to shield the place--"
"And for that, Jonouchi had to die for my foolishness." I stood up and stared at Jonouchi's dead face. It wasn't a pained face, but neither was it peaceful. Neither twisted nor tranquil, but simply...sad. Like there was still something he had to do...
I walked over and gripped his shoulder with my clean hand. "Peace, Seto. Let him go in peace."
His muscles stiffened, and he said nothing.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. Full quote of what Yami said. Comes from the pert em hru. --
May he grant that I see the sun-disc and behold the moon unceasingly every day; may my soul go forth to travel to every place which it desires; may my name be called out, may it be found at the board of offerings; may there be given to me loaves in the Presence like the Followers of Horus, may a place be made for me in the solar bark on the day when the god ferries across, and may I be received into the presence of Osiris in the Land of Vindication.
-------------------------------
--Chapter 14. Oooooh, Daddy scene. Cheesy, yes. That's why it got cut. And yes, referred to Mercedes Lackey again...--
What now? What now, Father?
One day I shall become Osiris and you the new Horus, reborn. You will become the protector and leader of Egypt.
"Remember this, son. Egypt is not fields of grain, or temples, or cattle; it is not cities, it is not even the land itself. Egypt is people. So long as our people live, so does Egypt. That is what you must fight for, what you must protect: that our people might live."
-------------------------------
--Chapter 13. Bakura is teh POWER. XD--
The Millenium Ring began to glow, its pointers rustling with the summoning of magic. Blue light circled around him, dark sparkling threads eating at the light. Until in his hands Bakura held a ball of red-black magic, flickering.
-------------------------------
--For Chapter 14/15. Was supposed to go near the end, but didn't fit. Sounded cool though.--
The Clock is ticking. The cure takes time. They say pain is temporary, but that's if you're alive at the end...
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 13. Didn't fit. Liked the concept.--
"Well then, why is this thing here?" Joey waved his arms. "Why did the door open for you? Why didn't we open the last memory?"
"Because there is one last thing to do."
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 13. Ooooh, defiant Kaiba.--
"And what makes you think that?" Bakura spat out. He crouched down, ready to spring again.
"I swore it."
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 13. Liked the concept, didn't fit. See the trend? --
Yugi stared back and forth from Kaiba to Shadi. Slowly he pulled himself, leaning against the stone tablet.
"Kaiba...thank you."
Kaiba whirled his head around. "What?!?"
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 12. A different way of getting to the top, for the seventh memory. Spider man Tristan. XD. Then I got a better idea...XDXD--
Bending down, he rubbed his hand in some brick chalk to give him some friction. He kicked off his shoes --for this kind of stuff bare-foot was better than sneakers-- and stood up.
He walked to the front of the pillar, looked back, gave a thumbs up and a wink, and said, "Climb on."
And up Tristan went. It was amazing, how he climbed that pillar. It helped that interspersed on the pillar were lines of protruding carvings, of falcon's heads. Everyone held their breath and hoped he wouldn't fall. He used his legs, mostly; that let him reach higher for a nice grip.
Yea for Spider-man.
Finally Tristan got high enough. He held himself up with one hand, holding onto a falcon's head, and carefully edged his way around till his left hand touched the floor. Then, grunting, Tristan pulled himself up onto the third floor. Yea for upper-body strength. Everyone cheered as Tristan landed (though sprawl is more like it) on the third level.
"Yeah Tristan! You made it!" Joey pumped a fist.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 12. How Tristan thought up the ingenious plan to be Spidey.--
Tristan stepped back and looked at the door. Then his eyes trailed down, following some sort of connection. Nodding to himself, he walked over to the side and leaned on a pillar.
"We can climb up this."
Everyone stared at him.
"You're kidding, right?" Tea said dubiously. "No way can we climb up that."
Tristan shrugged. "I can." He rubbed his hand over the pillar. "I free climb this kind of stuff all the time at the local gym. I'm not too bad, and I'm pretty sure this is rough enough for me to climb this. It's got a ton of carvings and stuff, and this pillar goes straight up to the third level."
Ryou looked at the pillar. The pillar was indeed covered with carvings and outcroppings, and it did go straight up to the third level, but... "Tristan, how is this going to work?"
Tristan looked closely, and then pointed a finger upward. "We'll make a long rope using our clothes. I'll carry that over my shoulder as I climb up the pillar. The pillar butts right up against the third floor; it'll be easy to get on it. Then we'll use the clothes-rope to climb or pull us up."
"Are you sure this will work, Tristan?" Tea said.

--Quote I wanted to use and never did.--
It is sometimes noted that Ebola victims would have a short period without fever before multi-organ failure and death.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 14. Um...it was gonna fit somewhere...--
"By Obelisk, Osiris, and Ra...I will not lose another!"
Seto stared back. "Lose another what? Think, man! There's no one left!"
Then everything fell away.
"You are wrong, Seto, High Priest. I am Athelas Ammon Tehuti Yami-Ra, Pharaoh of Upper and Lower Egypt, Atem, son of Ra, and I am my people."
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 12. Ending section. Was too long. Had Phantom of the Opera references. --
The stage is set.
The time has come.
This is the point of no return.
It all comes down to this:
Can they find the seventh?
Or will the Seventh find them?
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 11. Yugi and Yami scene, based on the song "Falling Down" by Bebo Norman. However, I also wanted the Egypt poem...and that made the cut, and this didn't.--
Yami cautiously spoke back. //...Who speaks?//
Yugi sweatdropped. Well, that was progress. /Yugi. Your aibou./
//...I- I don't...remember...//
Yugi reeled back. Didn't remember him? How?
//...But I know you...in dreams...//
Yugi whirled around. What?!
Yami slowly stretched out a hand. //I can't see you...// His hand went through Yugi's incorporeal body. //...But I need you here with me...//
Tears began to well up in Yugi's eyes, even though as a spirit, he could not shed them like a mortal. He reached for Yami's own hand and tried to touch it. /I'm right here, in your mind. I always will be./
Yami dropped his hand. //I don't know you...but without you, I'm falling down...// His eyes rolled back, and he fell back down on the bed. //Falling...falling down...//
/No! Yami, I'm right here. I won't let you fall./ Yugi floated right in front of Yami's face, as if Yami could see him.
//...???...be with me--//
/Yes./
//--even if Ra does not rise?//
/Yes./
//When...when...//Yami mumbled, drifting back into sleep. //When...the stars...fall...//
/--from the sky. Yes, I will be here. Till the end of all time, I will be here. Hold onto that, Yami. Remember that./
//...Holding on...//
Suddenly Yugi was jerked back, back into his own mind. He looked down at Yami, who was now resting peacefully. /Don't worry, mou hitori no boku. I'm always here./
And as the image of Yami misted away, Yugi felt one last mind-touch.
//Don't know who you are...but I want you back again...//
/I will, mou hitori no boku. I'll be back./

--For Chapter 10/14. Was initially gonna have the priests chase Bakura after/before he killed Honda aka Tristan. Then was gonna have this as the introduction scene to Marad. Didn't fit. Translation at the end; copied from some other fanfic. *sweatdrop* Sorry. I do know the Ausar means Osiris. This was before I got serious on studying Egyptian..--
Seto snarled. "Piece of raca filth!"
Shadi raised an eyebrow. "Surely we can be more elegant than that." He raised one long, thin, finger. "Aritu-na auset em uaa hru t'a neter; sesep-a em-bah Ausar em ta en maaheru, en ka en Ausar Ari..."
//May there not be a seat for you in the boat when the gods go forth, may you not be received into Osiris's presence in the land of triumph...//
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 11. Just a cut-out...--
"I'm gonna die." Joey spoke in the silence.
"Oh yeah? I did die." Tristan stared at the hole in the ceiling. It's a funny feeling, to know that in the past, you died...
"Joey, you're not going to die," Tea answered wearily. There wasn't anything she could say to Tristan, though.
"Then I'm gonna hurt for a long time."
Yugi sat up, rubbing his Puzzle. "We're all going to hurt, Joey, before this is through -- past or present."
-------------------------------
--For-I-dunno-where. Basically Grandpa observing the "coma" patients. Didn't fit, but liked the characterization Grandpa had for Yugi's friends.--
Outside the room, five gurneys carrying human bodies lined down the hallway. Grandpa gasped, for there lay Yugi's friends: Joey, the loud one; Tristan, the loyal one; Tea, ever faithful; Ryou, the quiet one; and (Grandpa winced) Mr. Seto Kaiba, the hardened one. Mrs. Motou, being a little behind on the times, recognized Tea, Joey, and obviously Kaiba.
-------------------------------
--For-I-dunno-what. Basically a Seto and Jonouchi relationship description. Never found a place for it.--
I tried not to smile. Apparently the lecture Seto had given him had taken effect, if only for a short while. Seto did not quite approve of me associating with the palace servants, simply because they were just that -- the servants. The common peasant was a (slightly) better relationship. I didn't really care; anyone who could get me out of the stuffy palace was great. However, Seto had the, well, "tradition" of making sure anyone he or myself associated with was at least proper and respectful, along with numerous miscellaneous requirements. Unfortunately, the Captain of the Guard didn't quite

--From Chapter 10. Time section. Humor that didn't make the cut, due to time constraints.--
FIVE HOURS?!?!
"Gaaahh!" Tristan yelled.
"What?!?" Everyone jumped and turned towards Tristan.
"I missed calling Serenity!" Tristan wailed. "It's almost 11:30 PM!"
"What!?!" Joey leapt at Tristan. "Who said you could call Serenity?!"
There would have been another "big brother protective scene" if Shadi had not interrupted.
"Time is not always accurate in this realm. It could possibly, as you judge time, be only seven o' clock. Memories distort the passage of time."
-------------------------------
--For chapters 10-13. A little Yugi/group perspective/thought thingy.--
The group didn't feel the same. Everyone was too...silent. Separate. Detached. The group just wasn't a group anymore, more like a collection of edgy people shying away. Okay, so they came together at some times, but it wasn't the same. It was like little pieces falling apart.
Everyone was so distant. They couldn't go on like this. For one, it just didn't feel right. ... And as the Bearer of the Puzzle, Yugi had to fix it. As if putting back together a puzzle could be as easy as putting a group together...
---------------------------
--From Chapter 10. Tea's was better.--
But they had all gotten down without major mishaps. The traditional hand-slapping and general good feeling of a mission accomplished quickly flew away as something decided to show up.
Yugi felt the Puzzle pulse and his eyes widened as he saw something emerge from the brick. He leapt back in surprise. "Gaahh!"
"What?" Joey whipped his head around. "What's wrong, Yuge?"
"Right- right-- there..."
And Joey found himself face to face with the Ravager.
"Yaaaahhhh!"
Joey fell back on his butt. "Get that thing away from me!" He scooted away, back towards where the rest of the group were staring at the thing.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 10. The Raca/chase scene again. *blinks* I think raca is Arabic for something, forgot what...needless to say, it isn't good...--
The six moved with promptness. After all, I am the Pharaoh. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a quiet get-away changed into a whirlwind of death.
We were at the palace gates when a fury of yelling and running footsteps came our way. I turned to see an apparent escapee fleeing towards the palace walls and two guards chasing him. Ironically, they both happened to be Honda and Jonouchi, two of my very good friends.
"Stop, you!" Jonouchi yelled. "Piece of raca!"
The thief in question made it to the walls and seemed to bounce right up them. Before any of my priests could act, two knives flashed out from his billowing red robe. He then turned, flashed an impudent grin and an obscene gesture, and vanished over the top.
-------------------------------
--From Chapter 10.Tea's in a hole.--
Tea decided to answer for herself, thank you very much.
-------------------------------
--Oh, wow. This is so old, I can't remember. I think I totally changed the concept. Basically Tea's falling and someone caught her...perhaps chapter 10...--
"Just don't look down!"
Whenever one is confronted with that phrase in times of terror, one always looks down to "face their fears." Or so the excuse goes. Tea looked down.
-------------------------------
--*laughs* I can't remember, but I liked the humor. I think the group had to get down somewhere, and Tea went first. Perhaps Chapter 10 as well. Basically Joey is holding onto Tea before he lets her fall.--
Joey chuckled. Tea looked awfully a lot like Serenity when she was younger. Grinning mischievously, he said, "Alrighty then!" Just like the old times. He winked at Tristan, who also had a smirk on his face. "One, two, three, and away you do go!"
And down Tea went.
(Joey pulled himself over. Uh oh. Should he have done that? -_-;; Males.)
