| All About Kappa Delta Phi |
| Kappa Delta Phi fraternity was founded on April 14, 1900 at Bridgewater Normal School. Before this date a group of men would host informal meetings throughout many different rooms of the Normal School Building. Most notably in room number 60 that burned down in 1924. At the meetings these men would discuss important matters regarding there group and hoping some day to progress in to a fraternal order. Thus that group of young men created Kappa Delta Phi fraternity. Which as you can see over 100 years later is still going strong and will continue doing so by living up to the same values as those 14 young men did then. Around the 70's Kappa Delta Phi started to decline and eventually became extinct. For two decades Kappa Delta Phi was considered to be in-active. Until October 18, 1991 when the active brothers from UMaine, Fort Kent took on a pledge class for Alpha Chapter and once again Kappa Delta Phi was an active chapter at Bridgewater State College. Kappa Delta Phi has a very long and proud history at Bridgewater State College. Being the oldest fraternity on campus when ever we walk around campus we have many things that remind us about our past. Such as Dinardo Hall is not only named after a well respected faculty member, but is also well respected brother of Kappa Delta Phi. In the Science building lobby there is a plaque for Martin T. Rizzo who did incredible things on the football field, and was also a brother of Kappa. Kappa is the only organization on campus to have an engraved stone dedicated to them, the Alpha Stone, memorializing the founding fathers of the fraternity. It is located in front of the Boyden Quad next to the walkway leading toward the campus center. Kappa Delta Phi has many more chapters throughout New England than any other fraternity on campus!!!! |
