Then and Now Chapter 12 Aimee and Lis exchanged quick looks which Nick noticed. "Whats up girlies?" Nick asked, leaning back on his elbows. "Nothing." Aimee answered. "I'm going to grab a drink." Aimee smiled at her two friends and walked away. Nick looked over at Lis who was just sitting there. "So Lissy, we're almost at Ang's. Another two three hours." "That's good." Lis leaned back on her elbows and looked at Nick. "Nick why did you... why did you kiss me?" she asked quickly before she lost her nerve. Nick looked at the grass beside him and plucked a few stands from the ground. "Why did I kiss you?" he asked quietly. Lis nodded her eyes fixed on him. Nick tilted his head and looked at her. "You want me to give a reason?" "If you have one." Lis answered quietly. "How about because I wanted to." "Then that would be a reason>" Lis answered softly. She felt Nick's fingers touch her bare arm. She took a deep breath and looked over at him, "Yeah?" "Why did you kiss me back?" he asked with a boyish grin. "I was half asleep." She lied, feeling her face go red. Thats right Lis, why not just come out and admit you've been dreaming about him every night for the last three weeks. "Really?" Nick leaned forward, "Now your wide awake, what are you going to do?" he whispered as he kissed her neck. "I uhm I guess I'm going to do this." she pushed his on his back and went to get up but Nick grabbed her arm and pulled her on top of him.Han stood beside B at the back of the Durango, he was opening the cooler to get out some drinks and food. "What do you want, sprite, water or..." Brian took a bottle of something out and looked at it. "Orange juice?" "Give me a sprite." Brian handed her a sprite, grabbed himself a water and closed the cooler. He dropped the top of the Durango and they leaned against it. "So how's the ride going?" he asked, opening his water. "Not bad, I think I've slept through most of it. How was the driving?" "Its pretty good so far. Straight stretch of road, followed right behind AJ for most of it." Hannah nodded and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't escape the urge to reach out and touch him, ever since they had left Tampa early that morning... "Han!" Brian yelled as her ice cold sprite spilled onto his chest. "Oh my god! Brian I'm so sorry." Han said snapping out of her daze, she looked at Brian's chest to see his wife beater plastered to his well defined chest. A small grin appeared on her face. Brian looked at her. "You did that deliberately didn't you?" he asked, with a grin. "I did not!" Han said indignant. "Oh you did too! I don't believe you." Brian said setting his water down and peeling off his shirt. Han turned around, not wanting to appear to be obviously watching. "You done yet?" Brian looked at his bottled water then at Han's back. "Give me a sec." he said, a devious grin on his face. He picked up his water and positioned it over her. "Ok turn around." Han sighed and turned around, all of a sudden being drenched in ice cold water. "Brian Thomas Littrell!" Hannah screamed. Krys looked at AJ with wide eyes when they heard Hannah scream Brian's name. "Does that not sound good?" she asked as she climbed out of the jeep. AJ was right behind her. "Not a bad bad, but still not good." Krys and AJ stopped at the side of Nick's Durango and stared, Han was standing there drenched in water while Brian stood there laughing. "Do we want to know what happened?" Krys asked, raising an eyebrow. Nina and Jenn walked up behind them. "What the heck is with you two?" Nina asked smiling at them. Han and Brian looked at each other and laughed. "I think we had a drink fight." Han explained, looking down at the clothes which were plastered to her.. "See Han spilled her sprite on me so of course I had to get her back." Brain explained, going to open the trunk to get Han's suitcase. "Oh yeah, because revenge always has to be quick." AJ said, wrapping an arm around Krys; waist. "Give them two days and they'll be a couple." he whispered in her ear and she nodded. Lis and Nick walked over to where everyone was standing around the two vehicles. "Did something happen?" Lis asked smoothing her hair into a ponytail. Nick rested his head on her shoulder. "Don't you remember?" he whispered. She silenced him with an elbow to the ribs, "I meant to the others goofy." "Oh." Nick looked at the group who were now staring at him and Lis wide eyed. "Hey B, your missing a shirt." "know that Frack, uhm why are you covered in grass?" Brian asked, smiling at his friend. Nick looked down at his white jersey which had loose strands of grass all over it. "Well you see B, when you roll in the grass..." Lis had never felt more embarrassed in her life. She felt like she could just curl up in a ball and hide and maybe she'd feel better, but that was impossible so maybe if she could just make it inside the car. "We going yet?" She asked, regaining her voice. Jenn smiled at her. "Of course. Ang is waiting guys, lets go!" The group disbanded and headed into their cars, Lis started to walk away but Nick grabbed her arm. She looked up at him. "What now Nick?" she said in a tired voice. "Look red, I need to know something." "What?" "Nick you coming man?" AJ yelled from the jeep. Nick rolled his eyes. "Be right there Bone." "We should go, we can talk later." Lis said and turned to head to the cars. Nick sighed and followed her. She got in the back while he got back in the drivers seat.
