A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes Chapter 1 "Whatcha up to Kaos? Brian asked as he sauntered into the living area of the suites the guys were staying in while in London for their shows. He bounced a mini basketball against the wall a few feet from where Nick was seated. They had flown in from "the Continent" that afternoon, finishing the majority of their European tour. With a night off, they were just taking it easy. "Oh, about 6'1"," Nick replied with a broad grin, to which Brian rolled his eyes. "And watch where you're throwin' that ball, you almost got me!" "I wasn't even close and you know it." Brian wandered over to where Nick had set up his "entertainment corner" and leaned over to see what was on the monitor in front of Nick. "Oh man! You're not reading those fanfics again, are you?" Nick continued to scroll down a page of titles and summaries. "Sure am! They're kinda addictive. Besides, you have to admit, some of the ones I've shown you are pretty entertaining!" Brian conceded, "Although, some are a little too graphic for my 'delicate Sensibilities.'" He laughed, "Gee, I sound like I could be on that 'Dawson's Creek' show!" Nick laughed with Brian. They always could keep each other entertained with their goofing around. "Yeah," he added. "I'm surprised at some of the stuff these girls write. Some of their stories are more like somethin' from 'Penthouse Forum' than a sweet romance story." "So, which one of us are you readin' about tonight... or all we all fair game?" Brian flopped down on the couch across from Nick, tossing the basketball into the garbage can in the corner. "Well, it IS Wednesday," Nick turned to grin at Brian. They finished the thought in unison, "Kevin!" "Hmmm," Nick paused on the page, "This one might have potential: 'Once Upon a Time' by Angel of Music. AJ would love that name... very 'Phantom of the Opera.'" Nick read the synopsis aloud to Brian. "'Although the rest of the guys just think he's picky, Kevin is waiting for his "Princess Charming." This is the story of what happens when she shows up in Orlando for a convention and she and Kevin find that there are such things as happy endings.'" "Well, have fun Nick. I'm off to bed." Nick opened the link to the first chapter and began to read. "'Didn't I tell you guys?!' Kristy grinned...""Where's Nick?" Kevin asked, frowning as he sat down with his breakfast. Just then Nick came dragging in, looking exhausted. "What happened to you?" AJ asked, laughing at the youngest member's pathetic appearance. Nick grabbed a glass of juice and yawned, "I stayed up late reading." He plopped into a chair and reached for the cereal. "You? Reading?" Kevin teased, "Since when?" Nick smiled smugly at Kevin, thinking of the main characters of the story he'd read last night. "I read." "They were probably comic books, right Nick?" AJ smirked. "Sure! Pick on the kid. What else is new?" Nick asked, causing the rest of the group to roll their eyes. After the breakfast meeting was finished, the guys each headed off to do their own thing. Kevin was heading down to the hotel's gym, Howie was going to go look for souvenirs for his family, and AJ was going to try to get a ticket for a matinee performance of a new musical. Brian didn't have anything particular in mind, so he followed Nick back to the suites. "Hold on," Nick said as he headed into his room. "Here," he pronounced as he emerged with a thick pile of paper, "Read this!" Brian took the papers and reading the top of the page, looked at Nick like he was crazy. "You actually want me to read this?" "I'm tellin' ya, this is the best story I've ever read!" Nick gushed, "This girl's pretty talented if you ask me." Brian chuckled, "I'm sure that would mean a lot to her, coming from you." "Well, we'll soon find out." Nick replied cryptically. "What did you do now?" Brian asked, suspicious of Nick's comment. "I emailed her and told her how great I thought her story was!" Nick grinned. "What else?" Brian asked, sensing there was more to it than that. Nick usually told Brian everything, but he'd wait until after Brian had read the story to let him on his plan. "Oh, just some friendly chit-chat." "I can't believe..." Brian started, rolling his eyes. "Just read it! Then tell me I was wrong." Nick grinned, daring Brian to do exactly what he wanted. "I'm goin' back to bed."Next: Chapter 2 |
