Loves Lies by Nikki ([email protected]) Chapter 4 Ashley was ready and waiting when Emily pulled up about twenty minutes later. She was really looking forward to the shopping to get her mind off Nick for at least a couple of hours. Trying to act cheerful and happy Ashley opened the door with a big smile, "Hey Em!" She said excitedly even surprising herself. "Hey! Ready to go?" Emily replied sensing that Ashley was faking her happiness but letting it slide cuz she knew she didn't wanna talk about it and she knew she shouldn't try to push it again. "Yup, are we taking your car or you want me to take mine?" Ashley asked. "I'm up for either, so whatever. It doesn't matter to me." Emily replied not caring just wanting to get to the mall. "Well I�ll drive then k?" Ashley said smiling. "K, but that means I need to wear my seatbelt then huh?" Emily laughed while finishing her sentence. "Ha Ha, very funny, just get your ass in the car and let's go please." Ashley said laughing for the first time in a really long time it seemed. It feels good to laugh she thought to herself, really good. "Damn ,pushy pushy, I�m going I�m going." Both girls got in the car laughing and headed for the mall. Nick had been at the mall nearly an hour just walking around, thinking about everything and anything. Just trying to get his thoughts from Ashley and finding it impossible. He didn't really buy anything. He would walk in stores, look at a couple things, then walk out. He figured that it wasn't helping at all so he walked out to find his car and leave. "Maybe going out with Bri will help me forget." He said aloud to himself. He picked up his cell phone and dialed the number. "Hey Nick, what's up?" Brian said knowing damn well who it was. "How'd you know it was me?" Nick asked knowing the answer already. "Well, let's see Nicky boy, who's been calling me every hour for the past week. I'd say after that much time I�d know. So what's going on now?" Brian replied simply. "You wanna do somethin man? I 'm trying to do anything to get my mind clear of things and nothing is seeming to help so I thought maybe hanging out with you would help. I mean a damn funny ass like you should cheer me up huh?" Nick said hopefully. "You call me a damn funny ass again and I�ll beat your ass not cheer you up but yeah I�m up for hanging, where you wanna go?" Brian asked, "I don't know, anywhere, I�ll be over in about an hour." Nick let out. "k, lat..." Brian began but was cut off by Nick, "Shit Bri she's here, what do I do?" Nick let out sadly. "Get your ass over here and don't do anything stupid. I mean come on Nick, what makes you think she'll talk to you? And what exactly do you plan on saying? "Hey Ash? You forgive me for fucking someone behind your back yet?" Brian let out mad at himself for saying it but knew completely that it was true. "Shit, I�m sorry Nick, that was really harsh of me. I'm sorry man." Brian said hopeful that he'd understand and not get totally pissed at him. "Fuck you Bri!" And with that he hung up the phone before Brian could say anything else. He threw the phone and slammed his head on the steering wheel hoping that all feeling would go away from his body so he wouldn't have to feel the hurt anymore but again it was unsuccessful. When he looked up the first thing he saw was Ashley. She was talking to Emily. She looked so happy and perfect. Laughing and talking with the biggest smile ever on her face. "God, I miss you. I love you so much baby." He let out sadly touching the glass of the window as if he was really touching her. Then he started his durango and pulled out longing to be with her. He began driving not knowing where to go or what to do. Why did I have to run into her here? Well Nick, it's a fucking mall. If I wasn't so fucking stupid, he thought making himself feel worse. "Fuck this, I can't do this. I want to be with her. I gotta try at least one more time." He said aloud and headed back for the mall. Ashley and Emily were getting out of the car and heading to the mall entrance. They were talking about everything. Emily was catching her up with what was going on at school since she had missed the last four days. "Hey Em? How's everything going with you and Josh?" Ashley asked kinda regretting it after she said it because she knew that would bring the return question of...oh god, what do I say? "Um...I guess good, we aren't getting along too much lately but we're together. How's everything with Nick?" Emily asked innocently not knowing what was going on. Shit, Ashley thought to herself. "We broke up actually" Ashley replied trying to hold back the tears. Emily looked at her as if to say sorry I brought it up and Ashley nodded and they changed the subject. "So, are we gonna shop or are we gonna stand around talking?" Emily questioned. "We gotta shop I�d say!" Ashley said happily. They spent the next couple of hours trying on clothes, buying stuff and just having a great time. "I'm hungry, wanna eat?" Emily asked. "Sure, I could use some food right about now." Ashley replied lying, not really being in the mood to eat but going with it anyway as Emily dragged her to the food court. Nick had been walking around the mall looking for Ashley for a long time. It wasn't all that big of a mall but he couldn't seem to find her at all anywhere. Where the hell is she? He thought to himself as his stomach growled. "Damn I�m hungry" He said to himself and headed where the food was. He passed by all the people staring intently at each face to see if he could find her on the way. He was concentrating so hard on the people around him that he didn't even notice that he was about to run into the very person he was looking for. He bumped right into her and without even turning around he said sorry about that and kept going until a very familiar voice said "Nick?"
