If You Knew What I Knew by Claudia ([email protected]) Chapter 3 - Don't Leave Me I woke up and wondered if she was awake yet... "Claud'?" I whispered softly, I'd rather not wake her unnecessarily, she was in pain and sleep was a place where she'd be safe from it. I wish I was still asleep as well, but the rescue workers were up and working again and they sounded a bit closer than yesterday... I also had the feeling something else was different, but I just couldn't quite put my finger to it. Then it suddenly dawned on me, it was light... well, not really like broad daylight, but more and more light was seeping into our involuntary hiding place. That meant that the workers must've had removed a layer of debris and really were closing in. "Yeah?" she was awake. It took her a while to answer me though... I could hear that she was getting weaker and weaker every hour that had past... maybe she had lost a great deal of blood and was I going to lose her before we even had met face to face. "How do you feel?" I couldn't help but ask. I knew it was the least thing she wanted to talk about because she had been avoiding the subject for a while now. "Sick... I'm hungry, and cold and I've got this huge headache plus that I really need to go to the bathro'.... hey is it me or is it lighter in here?" She had noticed it too! So than it must be true. "Yes, I think that they're closing in... can't you hear it? HEY HEEEEELP!" The sounds were so close! I could even see some movements out there through the many chinks there had been there ever since this morning. "Hang on we're almost there!" I started to cry they had found us! After these words everything went so fast, first we were blinded by even more light and then we just... lost eachother... They got to me first... Claudia must have fainted because I heard this loud screaming coming from the wreckage when they were trying to get the huge metal beam lifted from her leg and shortly after that it went all quiet... I wanted to stay at the site... I wanted to be sure that they treated her right... 'did she come out alive' my mind asked me but I pushed that question far away to the back of my mind...
