Hearts Don't Lie Chapter 21 Kevin gazed at Kristin who was still sleeping in his arms and said a silent prayer thanking God that she was back in his life. It was a miracle that she had taken him back. He had put her through so much and really wouldn't have blamed her if she hadn't. The feel of her cheek pressed against his chest was so comforting. A few days ago he would have given anything to feel that again. And now that he did, he almost didn't know what to do. She stirred in her sleep. "Kevin?" she mumbled, disoriented. "Yeah baby. I'm here," he whispered, stroking her hair. She moved slightly and looked up at him. "Good morning princess." "Morning," she whispered, still groggy. He couldn't stop string at her. It was like he didn't believe that she was real. "Ugh. Don't look at me. I have bedhead," she groaned. "I can't stop looking at you. This doesn't seem real. I feel like if I blink, you'll disappear," he said. "I'm not going anywhere Kevin." He couldn't speak. It was almost too much for him to handle. A knock on the door broke him of his trance. "Kev? It's Bri. Can I come in?" Brian called through the door. "Hold on Bri! I'll be right there!" Kevin replied. Kristin scooted out of bed and ran to the bathroom. "Here," Kevin said, handing her a pair of sweatpants and one of his shirts. He had thrown on boxers and a robe. Kristin dressed quickly. "What's up Bri?" Kevin asked, letting Brian in. "Kev, I figured that I'd warn you," he started. "What is it?" Kristin asked, coming out of the bathroom. "Well, there are a few people downstairs to see you," Brian explained. "Fans? Bri, that's normal," Kevin said. "Uh, actually the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, Kiss 108, Entertainment Tonight....." "What?!" Kevin and Kristin cried. "Between the radio thing and last night, the press wants a statement." "Damn. K, I have to say something. I did make a big deal of this," Kevin apologized. "I know. I'm prepared for this." "Are you really?" Kevin asked. She laughed. "Not really, but I'll adjust." Kevin quickly got dressed and went downstairs with Brian. Before he left, he turned to Kristin. "Why don't you wake up everyone else. You remember who had what room?" "I do. Good luck." He kissed her softly. "You're all the luck I need." Kristin headed out of the room and went to wake up everyone else. "I think he's calling a meeting," she told AJ. "Whatever," he grumbled. Amanda slipped past him into the hall. She too was still in her pj's. "Don't mind him. He's a grouch in the morning," she explained. "What's going on?" "Kev's downstairs talking to some reporters about us." "How do you feel about this?" "Mixed feelings, actually." "Come on. Let's go find the other 3 girls and talk," Amanda said. "Three? I think Mattie went home last night," Kristin said, confused. Amanda laughed and shook her head. Within a few minutes, they had gathered everyone but Mattie. Amanda knocked on Nick's door and waited. "Amanda? What's up?" he asked tiredly. "Where's Mattie?" she asked. "Hold on," he mumbled. Mattie came to the door. "Umm, hi. Good morning." "Good morning," Kristin snickered. Mattie grinned sheepishly. "What?" The other four girls started laughing. "Come on, we all need to talk," Amanda prompted, leading them all back to Kevin's room. They all settled on the bed. "What's going on?" Claudia asked. "Well, Kevin's downstairs talking to some reporters," Kristin told them. "About?" Mattie asked. "Me." "How do you feel about it?" Leighanne asked. "To be honest, I have very mixed feelings. It's good that he's finally admitted it, but now I'm totally in the spotlight." "It's a double-edged sword. You want to make sure everyone knows he's yours, but now you're open to public scrutiny," Amanda said. "Exactly," Kristin sighed. "We know it's hard, and we'll help you through it," Leighanne said. "Thanks!" Claudia looked at Mattie. "And as for you missy.....what's up with this?" Mattie blushed and everyone started laughing. "So what does this mean?" Amanda asked. "I don't know yet. Can I get back to you on that?" Mattie asked. "In other words, friends with benefits," Amanda laughed. They suddenly heard the voices of the guys talking in the hall. "Where did they all go? How can girls quietly disappear?" AJ asked. At that, the girls started laughing hysterically. "Oh wait," Kevin said opening the door. "Here they are. Good God, it's like a slumber party gone wrong." Everyone followed Kevin into the room. "I wouldn't talk. Out of the 5 of you, only Kev and Bri are dressed," Mattie laughed. Soon, everyone had squished on the bed. Kristin turned and faced them. "There's some news I'd like to share with you all, but I'd like to do it over lunch. I pulled some strings and got a private dining room at the Legal Seafood just across the way from here. Will you all come?" she asked. "Is everything ok? Is it good news?" Kevin asked, concerned. Kristin smiled. "Trust me, I think you all will like this news."Next: Chapter 22 |
