Hearts Don't Lie Chapter 22 Kristin kissed her uncle hello and settled into her seat at Legal Seafood. "Thanks for doing this for me," she told him. "Anything for my favorite niece," the older man replied. He helped to settle the group and walked away. Everyone was staring intently at Kristin, with confused looks on their faces. Mattie and Howie smiled, as they had long known her news. "Should we eat first?" Kristin teased. "You're killing us K! What's going on?" AJ asked. Kristin smiled and squeezed Kevin's hand. "Well as you all know I delayed getting a job so I could spend more time with you all. Eventually I had to start interviewing," she started. "You got a job? Congrats!" Leighanne exclaimed. "Just wait Leigh," Kristin smiled. "A job, honey?" Kevin asked. "Ok, you're right. I got a job. It's a wonderful job and I think I'll do really well there," she continued. "When do you start?" Brian asked. "On October 5th." "That's in a couple a weeks. Will you be working in public relations?" Nick asked. "I will," she said, beaming. "What's the name of the firm?" Amanda asked. "Walker and Kranst." Everyone was silent. "Walker and Kranst? But that's in....." Kevin whispered. "Orlando," Brian finished. Everyone stared at Kristin, as if they didn't believe what they had just heard. "Orlando," AJ repeated. Kevin paled. "Orlando?" Kristin nodded and beamed. "I'm moving there in a week. What do you think Kevin?" "You'll be with me," he whispered. "You're building a new life with me." "I'm building a new life for me. A life with you in it," she said. Kevin was silent. He was so happy he couldn't speak. "Where will you live?" Brian asked. "Obviously if you're moving in a week you already have a place." "I have a nice condo all ready for me. All I have to do is finalize a few things with my landlord." She winked at Howie. Howie reached into his pocket and handed a key to Kristin. "Unit 25 is all yours K. Here's the key. I had an extra one made for Kev too." "Thanks D. I couldn't have done it without your help." "Wait a sec! Howie knew? For how long?" Kevin exclaimed. "A few weeks at least," Howie said. Kevin laughed. "I still can't believe it." Kristin smiled and held his hand. "Believe it baby, I'm here to stay."Next: Epilogue |
