Hearts Don't Lie Chapter 2 "Sit down Kristin," Kevin motioned. Kristin sat down next to Howie and Kevin slid in next to her. "Where are you from?" Kevin asked. "Massachusetts, in a small town about a half-hour south of Boston," she replied. "I knew it!" Brian exclaimed, snapping his fingers. "Excuse me?" she asked. "I was just telling Leighanne that I thought you were from Boston!" "Oh really?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "Your accent is unmistakable! You don't pronounce your 'R's'!" he added. "I'm not that bad compared to others! It's just because I'm down south!" she protested. All at once, Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ, Leighanne and Amanda chimed in: "Pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd!" Kristin buried her head in her hands. "Oh don't go there." Everyone laughed. "Vacationing?" Leighanne asked. "Yes, for two weeks on Spring Break," Kristin replied. "What college?" Howie questioned. "U Mass Boston." "Are you here alone?" Brian continued. "No, I'm with two friends from school. They disappeared, but we're meeting up later." "How old are you?" AJ asked. "What is this? An interrogation?" she joked. "I'm 22." "One final question," Kevin asked. "Do you want to dance?" Kristin blushed. "I'd like that," she softly replied. He led her to the dance floor. Santana's "Smooth" had just begun to play. "Tough song to dance to," Kevin noted. "Really? A ballroom dance instructor can't cha-cha?" she giggled. He raised an eyebrow. "I would think that I knew how!" "Well come on then! Let's dance!" They began to dance. Soon, a small crow had formed around them. Within a few more moments, the entire dance floor was theirs. Although Kevin had begun to lead her in some simple steps, he soon realized that she indeed knew how to dance. Try as he might, he couldn't stump her. She could follow every move he made. "Look at them go!" Leighanne exclaimed. "Who is that?" Nick asked, joining the others. "That's Kristin," AJ replied, matter-of-factly, not taking his eyes off the couple. "I have an idea!" Howie exclaimed as he dashed off to the DJ. He returned to the group within seconds. "D? What's up?" Brian asked. "You'll see," he smirked. The song ended. Kevin and Kristin were laughing hysterically by this point. "Ok you two! But can you Mambo?" the DJ boomed. Kevin eyed Kristin. She nodded with a spark in her eyes. "Mambo # 5" filled the air. The crowd cheered and the couple began again. "You can really dance!" Kevin whispered in her ear, as he led her in this dance. "I took a class at school just for fun. I loved it! It's nice to finally have a partner who can keep up with me! Not many guys know how to do this." "It's nice to have someone to keep up with me!" When the song ended, Kevin led Kristin back to the tables, amidst the cheers of the crowd. Once at the tables, their group began to applaud. Kristin took a mock bow. "Thank you, thank you!" she laughed. Leighanne grabbed her arm. "You have to teach me how to dance like that!" "Talk to Kevin about that, I'm only along for the ride," She glanced at her watch. "God! It's 1:30! Everyone, I'm sorry, but I have to go and meet my friends. It was so nice to meet you all." "I'm sorry you have to go Kristin. When are you leaving Florida?" Amanda asked. "A week from this Friday. We just arrived this morning." "Why don't you give your hotel room number and phone to Kev. I know we'd all like to see you again before you go," Brian suggested. "That would be nice. Does anyone have a pen?" she asked. Howie handed her one. She scribbled her information on a napkin and handed it to Kevin. "Thanks for the drink and the dance," she added. "Anytime," he winked. She grabbed her purse and shook hands with everyone. Kevin held her hand a second longer than normal. Their eyes locked. "Goodnight," he whispered. "'Night," she replied. She headed out of the club and to the main gate. Mattie and Gillian were already waiting for her. "Where were you?" Mattie cried. "Oh sorry. I was saying goodbye to someone," Kristin explained. "Did you meet someone?" Gillian asked. "I think you could say that....."Next: Chapter 3 |
