Chapter 13

"Kevin? I'm going swimming," Kristin called. When she got no answer, she called again. "Kevin?"

He still didn't answer. He was probably in his office, she thought. He had just gotten back from Europe yesterday and she knew how many phone calls he needed to return. Grabbing a bottle of iced tea from the fridge, she headed out to the pool. She giggled once she found Kevin stretched out on a lounge chair, sunbathing.

"You didn't waste anytime relaxing," she laughed, kissing him on his forehead.

His eyes remained closed behind his sunglasses. "Three weeks baby, that's all I get before the rest of the tour. I'm enjoying every second of this."

"Oh come on, you loved it! It's not like it was that bad!" she said.

He smiled. "Very funny. It was more relaxing with you there most of the time. Did you have fun?"

Kristin stretched out on a chair next to him. "I loved Europe. I'm only sorry that I couldn't be there the whole time. We'll have to go back."

"We will, I promise. We'll spend some more time in Ireland. I know that was you're favorite place. Speaking of Irish, you better be careful K. You'll fry out here in the sun."

"That's what I get for being over 90 % Irish. I have to get used to the Florida sun."

"Yes, you do," he said. "How's the job hunt going? I know you had some interviews last week."

"Pretty good, we'll see Kev."

Kevin rolled over on his chair and faced her. "I never asked K. Where are you interviewing? Boston or Orlando?"

"What makes you think I'd interview here?" she teased.

"I guess we never talked about this. Would you ever interview here?

Would you be willing to relocate, at least at some point?" he seriously asked.

"At some point Kev. I'm doing a lot of interviewing in Boston," she said. It was hard to lie to him. She wanted to wait until she heard something, but most of her interviews had been in Orlando. She had even spoken to Howie regarding renting one of his condo's. She had sworn him to secrecy.

"But at some point you would?"

"Of course honey. But there's something I need to ask you."

"What?"

"When are you going to tell someone about us? It's beginning to get harder to hide us. I'm always seen with you guys. Someone is going to figure it out eventually."

He sighed. "I guess I just want to shelter you for a little while longer. This has been like a whirlwind and I want to make sure we're both ready."

She smiled weakly. "I understand."

"Hey! Brian mentioned something about possibly setting Matts and Nick up? Are you serious?"

Kristin laughed. "We figure it's worth a shot. What do you think?"

"I think you're both nuts. But I'll make you a deal. If you really think this is worth it, we'll fly Mattie out here for that talk show next week. That will give the two of them some more time together."

"You'd really do that Kevin?"

"I still think y'all are nuts, but I figure what the hell. Call her tonight and ask if she wants to visit. The talk show thing is basically a waste of time, but we have to do it, so let's make it fun."

Kristin leaned over and kissed Kevin. "Thanks honey. You're the best! And believe me, if Mattie and Nick don't work out, at least we'll get a few laughs!"
