Hearts Don't Lie Chapter 1 Kristin, Mattie and Gillian wandered into Pleasure Island and looked around. It was somewhat of a quiet night there. There were enough people to have a good time, but not so many that it seemed ridiculous to even try to be there. Kristin smiled and turned to her two best friends. "Well, where should we go ladies?" the 22 year old asked. Mattie glanced around. Her eye caught the back of a tall, blond man walking with a group of guys. "I say we follow them," she laughed. "G? What do you think?" Kristin asked Gillian. Gillian smiled. "Sounds good to me!" Kristin was up for a little adventure that night. She and her two closest friends had decided to take a well-earned vacation to Florida. She was looking forward to two sunny weeks, instead of the cold weather she had left behind in Boston. She wanted this to be a Spring Break she would never forget, after all, this would be one of her last in college. "Kristin?" Mattie prompted. "Come on. They headed into Mannequin's. Let's follow them. They looked cute from behind," she said with a twinkle in her eyes. The girls walked over to the large club and headed inside. The music was blaring. The girls had to shout to hear each other. "If we get separated tonight, we'll meet back at the main gate at 2, ok?" Gillian shouted. "Sounds good. I'm going to find that guy!" Mattie replied and took off. Someone caught Gillian's eye from across the room. "I'm going to check him out. Will you be ok, K?" she asked. "Go! We'll meet up later!'' Kristin replied. Gillian walked over to the guy who had been watching her. Kristin sighed and looked around. She really hated to be left alone in places like this. Being somewhat shy and reserved, mingling really wasn't her forte. She wanted to dance, but had no one to dance with. She took a deep breath and headed over to the bar to get a drink. "What can I get you?" the bartender asked. "Pina Colada, please." "I.D?" Kristin handed over her license. As the bartender handed it back, she slipped and dropped it on the floor. "Damn," she grumbled, bending over to pick it up. As she did she knocked heads with someone also reaching down. "OW! Sorry!" she apologized, rubbing her head. The man laughed. "It's ok. It'll teach me to try to be a gentleman. Here, you dropped this." As Kristin took her license back, she gasped, getting her first look at the man. "Holy Kevin Richardson!" she gasped, turning crimson. Kevin blushed too, and laughed nervously. "Guilty as named." "Wow. Um, thanks....." she stammered. "No problem. You can't loose you license. You'll need that, right?" he smiled, talking slowly with his rich voice. "You're right. Although I really don't need it until I get back home," she replied, beginning to relax. "Your drink miss. That'll be 4 dollars," the bartender interrupted. Kristin began to take money out of her purse. "Hey, I've got it," Kevin stopped her. "No really. I'm fine. Thanks though." "I gave you a concussion. It's the least I can do!" he joked. Kristin became lost in his green eyes. "Well, ok. Thank you. I get the next round though." Kevin smiled. "It's a deal. Are you here with anyone?" Kristin blushed again. Was her flirting with her? "My friends Mattie and Gillian. But they took off and we agreed to meet later. So, to answer your question, no." "Would you like to sit with me? I would like to talk with you more." God, he thought, could her pale blue eyes be any more haunting? "I'd like that." They took their drinks and headed over to a small group of tables. Some already appeared to be filled. Kristin stopped dead in her tracks when she realized who was filling them. "What's wrong?" Kevin asked, concerned. "It's just.....umm.....look!" she stammered. "I promise you, we're normal people too. Come on, they won't bite," he paused. "Well, I can't promise anything about AJ, but the others are fine." Kristin laughed and continued to walk with Kevin. He put his drink down on a table and Kristin followed suit. Howie looked up from his conversation with AJ. "Hey Kev, who's this?" "This is.....uh.....Oh my God. I feel awful! I never asked your name!" Kevin cried, turning purple with embarrassment. Kristin threw her head back and laughed. "Just because I figured out who you were.....I'm Kristin Donovan." "Nice to meet you. I'm Howie," he said, standing to shake her hand. "AJ," AJ said, extending his hand. "Amanda, nice to meet you," an attractive brunette said, from her place next to AJ. "I'm Leighanne, " another woman offered. "Brian," Brian said. Kevin turned to her. "I'm so mortified. I'm Kevin." Kristin winked. "I think I figured that." "Where's Nick?" Leighanne asked. Kevin spotted him on the dance floor. He pointed him out to Kristin. "So Kristin, can we call you Kris or Kristy or something?" AJ called over to her. Kristin turned around. "Not if you expect me to answer." Everyone started to laugh. "Fine, Kristin it is," AJ laughed.Next: Chapter 2 |
