Friends Forever Chapter 2 Julie raced down the hall with tears streaming down her face. Down the hall, coming off the elevator, were Howie and Nick. Julie managed to shove past Howie and right into Nick's arms. She struggled to shove past him too, but he grabbed her wrists and held her until she stopped and just leaned against him, crying into his shoulder. "Julie. Julie stop it. What's wrong?" Nick asked her, but she just continued sobbing. Nick motioned for Howie to leave and Howie nodded in understanding. Nick pulled Julie aside and sat her down next to him in the uncomfortable hospital chairs. "Julie, look at me." She obeyed and looked him in the eye. "Oh god, it's Brian again isn't it?" she nodded "Why don't you just tell him that you feel that way? It's hurting you really bad not to." Julie looked back down at her lap. Slowly, she looked up and finally, she spoke. "Nick, you know I can't do that. I don't want to hurt our friendship and anyway, he would probably laugh at me. We've been 'Just friends' for around 18 years now." Julie explained and started crying again. Nick grabbed her and hugged her, letting her cry into his shoulder. "Julie, I promise you he wouldn't laugh. I'm one of his best friends and I know he wouldn't. You should know that too, you having been friends with him as long as I've been alive." "Oh god, Nick. He said he loved me as a friend! I said I loved him too as a friend and he called me a bad liar and accused me of loving him more then just that." She continued sobbing quietly. "I can see how that would upset you, but I don't really understand why. Maybe he wanted to know because he loves you more than that too. Maybe he was trying to tell you something and you got confused by it. Brians not the type to play mind games." Nick told her softly. "I don't know, Nick! I'm just so confused. It's bad enough I was upset about him needing surgery, but then this love thing comes up between us. I don't really understand anything anymore." "Julie. If you don't tell him, I will. I'm tired of seeing this thing tearing you up. I know that Brian has to love you. I see it in his eyes when he talks about you. He has to know. Now." Julie just stared at Nick in shock for a moment, tears having stopped momentarily. "Do you really think he loves me too?" "I'd bet my life on it. Now, I'd better go see him before Howie tells him your upset and he decides to get out of that hospital bed to see whats going on. You want to come?" Nick looked her in the eye hopefully. "No, you go ahead. I don't think I'd be able to stand it if you told him and he didn't love me back." "Ok Julie. Your sure your okay?" "Positive. Now go before I change my mind and don't let you tell him!" "Okay, okay. I'm going! C-ya!" "Bye Nick, and thanks!" |
