Destiny Is Everything Chapter 4 - The Date At 7:40 pm, Brian, all dressed and roarin' to go, hopped into his car and made the fifteen-minute drive to Danielle's house. Once there, he walked up to her front steps, took a few deep breaths, exhaled, and pressed the bell. Behind his back, he held a dozen yellow roses, complete with baby's breath and curly ribbon. Danielle promptly opened the door and greeted Brian. "Hey, Brian!....You look gorgeous." She meant every word of her compliment. Brian, dressed in a long-sleeve oxford shirt and khakis, flushed with embarassment. He was not good at accepting compliments and, so, with head hung down for a couple of seconds, said a simple "Thanks." The compliment would not go unreturned. "You look very beautiful tonight, Danielle....Here, these are for you, " Brian said. "Thank you...Wow, these are beautiful. Thanks. Come in and have a seat while I put 'em in water." "Sure." Brian, looking around her house, asked, "Do you live alone?" Danielle answered, "Not unless you count Jiffy as a housemate, I don't." As if on cue, Jiffy ran into the room and spotting Brian, hopped into his lap and eagerly licked his face. "Hey, Jif! How're ya, buddy?? He's a complete doll, isn't he?!", Brian exclaimed. "Yeah, he is, " Danielle agreed. "Okay, we can go now, " when she was done with the flowers. "Great!," Brian said. He led the way to his car and opened the door for Danielle. He gunned the engine and the car sped off in the direction of town. Ten minutes later, he parked in the lot of "Rosalie's", a fine, five-star Italian restaurant-very elegant and expectedly expensive, too. After they had had their meal, Danielle remarked, "That was a grand course. Why don't we split the check?...I know you're a BSB and all, but I really don't feel comfortable letting you pay for the entire thing." "No, no, no. It's okay 'cause I wouldn't feel right then. If you want, you can pay another time." Brian, upon hearing his last sentence, blushed and said, " I mean...You know if...uh..." Danielle, seeing Brian blush, smiled to make him feel easier, " Brian, if you're asking me out on another date, I accept." Brian then said, "Yes!...I mean, that'd be nice." Danielle laughed and went on, " So, where are we going after this?" Brian replied, " It's a surprise." Danielle said, "Again? You said that earlier today." Brian said, "Well, it is. You'll just hafta wait and see." Brian signaled the waiter and after the meal had been paid for, they got outside and went to his car. He opened his side of the door first, reached in and retrieved a neck-scarf from the glove compartment. "To keep you in suspense, I'm gonna tie this around your head." Danielle responded, " I dunno what you're up to, Brian, but...all right." He gently made a knot with the scarf around Danielle's head so that she could see nothing but pitch-black darkness. "Here, I'll lead you to the car" and with that said, Brian slowly guided Danielle to her side of the vehicle. After what seemed like an eternity to her but what really was a 25-minute ride, he parked the car in neutral and got out. Brian opened the door and led Danielle out. He untied her scarf. Her first reaction was to look up. "Wow, " she breathed softly. "This is incredible." Brian smiled at her and commented by saying, "Something incredible for someone incredible." She smiled and kissed Brian on the cheek. "Thank you for a most wonderful night." Brian replied, " Hey. It's only beginning. " They were at the beach, the same one where Brian had first met Danielle earlier that day. Out of the backseat of the car, he took a basket filled with crackers and imported cheese, plus a bottle of champagne with two goblets. And a blanket to sit on, too. Side by side, they walked to a spot eight feet away from the water's edge. He set the blanket down, smoothed it out, and spread it on top of the sand. He placed the food basket near the corner of the huge blanket. Observing him while he was doing this, Danielle smiled and thought to herself, "Wow, am I lucky or am I just lucky to have met Brian? God must be watching over me." She silently thanked the Lord for sending Brian her way. When Brian was finished setting up their area, he sat down first. Then he pulled Danielle down to sit in his arms. "Are you cold?", Brian asked. "Ummm [sighing], no. With you here, I could never be. I wish this night never had to end, Brian." "We can stay here for as long as you like." "I wish I could, but I have to work tomorrow," Danielle said. "On a Sunday?, " Brian inquired. Danielle quickly answered, "Oh, right! I forgot." Smiling mischievously, she said, "Well then, I guess we can stay here all night, huh?" Brian said, "Thatta girl." At that moment, Danielle turned her face upwards, looking deep into Brian's blue eyes. After a second or two, her head instinctively moved towards his and they began to kiss. Gradually, the kiss became more passionate and perhaps even urgent. Throughout the night, Brian and Danielle talked about anything and everything. Brian did his best Jim Carrey impersonations for her and Donald Duck, as well. Danielle's natural reaction was to laugh hysterically at the Jim Carrey imitations and coo at his Donald voice. Brian sang a song softly into her ear as the night almost became day. It was "I'll Never Break Your Heart" and Danielle, content as a girl could be, smiled the whole song through. She closed her eyes, savoring every moment that she spent with Brian. She snuggled deeper into his arms and fell asleep, a smile still plastered on her pretty face.Next: Chapter 5 |
