Wishing On Nothing Chapter 6 �What?� Nick asked alarmed. �I have to go.� I said and ran back to the party. I could feel his gaze on me as I ran back. I could feel warm tears slip down my face once again. �Cass, can we please go?� I asked her. She was enjoying the party obviously. �Why are you crying? Did you say something about Keith?� she asked. �Not really but I can�t be in this guys life. It�s just not right.� I said quietly as I realized that Kevin was listening to every word. �Is there something I can do?� He asked. �No, I�m ok.� I said with as mall smile so he wouldn�t ask. �Do you want something to drink?� Kevin asked me. �Yeah but direct me to the kitchen and I will try to make my way over there.� I said as he showed me. I made my way through the throng of people just as Nick ran right into me. �Oh sorry I was just looking for someone. Wait you are who I am looking for.� He said grabbing my arm before I could get away. �Nick, please, I can�t do this.� I said looking away. �Please tell me. I want to help you and listen to you.� He said. �Aren�t you just a little alarmed after what I just said?� I asked. �Of course but that doesn�t mean I am just going to leave it go like that. I know we just met and all but you can still talk to me.� He said. �You don�t get it do you? I am that person that you want to stay away from because I am one big thing of problems. I am just telling you but you don�t want to know me.� I said trying to get away once again. �No, you just want everyone to think that but I can tell you really want someone to listen. So just quit lying about it and let me be your friend.� He said getting aggravated at me. �Fine but don�t say I didn�t warn you and I don�t know if I can even tell you.� I said. �What? Now you aren�t even going to let me help you?� He asked. �Why would you want to help me?� I asked. �Nick!! There you are! I have been looking for you everywhere!� A girl said coming up to us. �Oh hey Lindsey! I was just talking to Mack here. Mack this is Lindsey.� He said a little uncomfortably. �Hi Mack!! I am Nick�s girlfriend.� She said annoyed probably because Nick didn�t seem to mention that fact. �Hi Lindsey! Well it was nice meeting you two but I have to go.� I said and made my way out. �Mack Wait!� Nick yelled after me. �Now what Nick? I am not going to let myself do this.� I said. Knowing that if I stayed I would eventually let him get to know me and that would end in heartbreak. It always did for me. �Why are you leaving?� He asked. �Gee Nick. I can�t stick around because it will only end in me getting hurt. It always happens like that for me. So go back to Lindsey and forget you ever knew me. Everyone always does so I am sure you can, too.� I said. �I can�t just forget you. Let me be your friend.� He said. �Why? I think you have enough one less won�t hurt. Good-bye Nick.� I said and went back to Cassie. �Hey girl, what�s up?� Cassie asked. �Nothing as usual.� I said. �Are you sure because you sound upset.� Kevin said. �Well, I am used to being upset so don�t worry.� I said. �Cass please can I have the car keys I need to go home.� I said. �Cassie I can take you home later.� Kevin offered. �Ok but I will be home later, Mack. Then you owe me a talk.� She said. I agreed and left for my car. Nick and Lindsey were sitting out on the porch and I tried to make my way past so they couldn�t see me. �Hey Mack! Nice meeting you!� Lindsey yelled. �Yeah right!� I said back. I took one last look at Nick who was about to say something when I got into the car. I blasted the stereo on Orgy�s �How Does It Feel� and sped off. I took the way home that led me to the his grave. The grave to the guy that took everything away from me but I wasn�t ready to admit that.Next: Chapter 7 |
