Wishing On Nothing Chapter 4 Ok is there something on my face because you are looking at me so weird. I commented. No. You just have very beautiful eyes but they have sadness in them. He said. Yeah I am just a big pupil of sadness. I said. I will take that as a joke even though you arent laughing. He said with a big smile but I didnt smile either. Mack, come meet Kevin! Cass yelled to me. I got up and walked over to her with Nick oddly enough right behind me. Hi Kevin. I said as he shook my hand. Hello Mack, is it ok if I call you that? He asked. Yeah whatever is fine. I said. Hi I am Nick. Nick said to Cassie Hi! Great to meet you , too. I see you two are keeping each other company. Cass said with a smirk that I ignored. Shouldnt we be going soon Cass? I asked. No I dont have to work tomorrow and neither do you. Plus Kevin invited us back to his place to chill since this was their last concert of the year. Cass said giving me as mall shove in the stomach. Yeah you guys have to come. It is like our small party for the end of the year. All the guys are coming. Nick said looking at me once again. I guess I could. I said a little mad but also happy that this guy actually wanted me of all people to come. You guess? I was hoping for an Id love to. Nick said with a smile. Ok then Id love to. I said smiling back. Hey Mack I need to talk to ya for a minute. Cass said and dragged me to the side. Whats up? I asked. Girl, you better not leave yourself out tonight. That Nick guy seems to enjoy your company. You better not push us out. Cass said. Cass, I will be nice but I know what I want and I cant have all that stuff. He is just being nice. I said trying to walk away. Just dont treat him how you treated Keith because you thought he was too good for you. She said. That hit abit of a tender spot on me and I just turned and made my way back to Nick. I felt all the pain from that part of my life start to build up and my eyes were getting a little wet. Are you ok? Nick asked worriedly. I am fine. I snapped. Sorry. Nick said. No I didnt mean to yell like that. I am just having a really bad day. I said. Well, we will just have to make sure you have a great night. Nick said. I doubt that will happen but I am willing to try. I said. Cassie and I headed for our car about an hour later and followed them to their house. We were silent the whole ride because I wasnt in the mood to talk to her after what she brought up. We arrived a little later. Come on the party is getting started without yall! AJ yelled as Nick, Kevin, Cassie, and I went in. There were people everywhere. Music was blaring and food was everywhere in sight. I always dreaded parties like these because that meant people seeing you. I found a door leading to the back where the beach was and made my way out. I didnt really belong at the party. Just not my thing. I just stood there listening to the breeze and watching the stars. Mars is over there. I looked up and saw Nick and he was pointing towards it. Nice! I never did know where it was. I said taking a seat on the sand. Did you know that you are very hard to figure out? Nick asked me. Well, I am a girl we are supposed to be like that. I said laughing at him. But you are different. I mean I have three sisters and I think you are harder to understand than them. And all we do is yell well you know what I mean. Sibling arguments. Nick said. No not really I dont have any brothers or sisters but I guess I get ya. I said. Only child? Nick asked. I guess you could call it that. I have lived with Cassie for a while because I dont have any family. Her and her family are like my own. I said. Do mind if I ask what happened? Nick asked. No, not at all. They abandoned me when I was born at a church. I was raised there for a while then I met Cassies mother whole at church and she found out and took me in. There were a few legal things here and there but we got through that. So I guess you could call Cassie my sister and best friend. I explained. Im sorry. Nick said. Dont be. I am fine with it. I said. You seem a lot different than Cassie. Nick said. Oh yeah we are. She is the popular fun one and I am the dull one. I said. Well, I like you because you seem so natural. You give people a hard time to just get to know you and I find that amazing. You just seem so real. Nick said. Well, theres a lot more to me than meets the eye. I said looking at him. His eyes were twinkling and I could look into them forever. But I couldnt go through something like that again because of how I was. I can see that and I hope you will let me see more of it. Nick said. Why is he doing this? he was just going to make it harder for me to get over my past.Next: Chapter 5 |
