Peas and Carrots Chapter 20 "Oooh, good choice," Nick said sardonically. "What�s wrong with her? I asked in defense. "Do you really think your wimpy little girl is going to beat MY guy?" I looked at the character he had chosen. He was pale green, and very weird looking. "Yeah, I do. Maybe not during the first 10 games or so, but when I get the hang of it, I�ll kick your butt." "Sure, you just keep telling yourself that," Nick said with a smirk. I punched him in the arm playfully, and threw a dirty sock at him. "Hey!" exclaimed Nick. "What was that for?" "For a while. You know what it was for," I said as Nick searched for something to throw at me. "Now let�s get this show on the road!" We both hit our controller�s start buttons, and immediately the game started. Since Nick told me to just push buttons, that�s just what I did. I don�t know what I was making her do, but it work for some reason. Well, for a little bit, at least. Nick�s green guy started to glow. Without warning, he rocketed a green lightning bolt, or something like that at me. "Hey! How�d you do that?" I asked, pushing buttons like mad. My girl was just kicking and punching at him. Nothing too effective. Nick just grinned and continued playing, staring intensely at the TV screen.Next: Chapter 21 |
