Sweet Dreams Chapter 9 *The next Day* "I can finally get out of this hospital," Brian said packing the last of his things in his Nike bag. "Now we can all get out of here," Nick added, helping him pack. "Hey, where's everybody? I thought everyone would be here to see me," Brian said wondering why Nick was the only one who came to pick him up. "Your parents had to fly back down to Kentucky and the rest of the guys got called to a quick interview." "Well so much for a party," Brian said sarcastically. "Come on lets get out of here. I'm beginning to get nauseus." Brian stepped out into the fresh air. It felt good to be out. Caroline entered his mind as he stepped into Nick's black camero convertible. "Hey Nick?" "Yeah?" "Why did Caroline leave?" "I don't know." "Come on you know. You have that look on your face." "What look?" "That look when you want to tell someone something, but you can't." "Brian she told me not to tell anyone. This is something that you and her need to deal with." "Well do you at least know when she's coming back?" "Well, that I have no idea. Tell ya what, we can stop by her apartment later on." "Fine," he sighed and stared out the window through out the whole ride. Nick pulled into the parking lot to their apartment. They walked up the steps and Nick slid his key into the door and opened it. It was pitch black in the apartment and when Nick flipped on the light switch everyone yelled surprise. "Oh my god I thought you guys had to leave!" Brian said with a huge smile on his face. "You know we'd never leave you hangin'," Howie said. They partied for about three hours and then Brian's parents had to leave. Nick and Brian dropped them off at the airport and then drove to Caroline's apartment. *On the plane to florida* "Please buckle your seat belts we are about to land," the captain announced as the plane had an easy landing. Caroline was very thankful because she had been throwing up through the whole flight. Anxious to get out of the airport she quickly got her suitcase and caught a taxi. "Nick, she's probably not here," Brian said beginning to turn around. "Brian don't give up so easily. At least knock on the door." Brian knocked on the door a couple of times and then waited. "Come on Nick let's go," he said sadly. They walked down the steps and began to leave. Caroline paid the taxi driver and picked up her suitcase. She heard the door to the apartment building open and two guys walk out. All Caroline could do was stare as she tried to make out the faces cause it was so dark outside. The dim street lights flickered over top of Brian, making his copper hair shine. Caroline instantly knew who it was. "Brian?" she called. Brian looked around to find out who called his name. Then he saw Caroline. "Caroline? Is that you?" "Oh my god! Brian!" Caroline squealed. They ran towards eachother and embraced in a deep hug and began kissing. After the rejoicing moment they returned to Caroline's apartment. "You know what guys, I think I'm gonna head back home," Nick said. "Are you sure?" Caroline asked. "Yeah. I think you two need to be alone," he said grinning. "And plus I gotta call this girl." "Okay then. Well, give me a hug before you leave." Nick walked over and gave Caroline a hug then left. "I'll see you at the apartment Nick," Brain called as he left. "Bye." Brian picked up Caroline's suitcase and they walked inside the apartment. "Baby, I missed you soooo much," Caroline said giving him another hug. "I've missed you too," he said as he touched her cheek. It felt good to have him touch her again. "Brian we need to talk," she said as she sat in her leather arm chair. "Indeed we do. I got your so called letter. And let me just say that was no excuse for leaving. Yes, I know that my parents don't know about us, but I'm going to tell them." "It wasn't about your parents. It was about me. I had to leave. I just couldn't stay." "You could've given me a better reason than that," he said, his voice rising. "Well the "reason" you left was it more important than me? Huh? Was it more important than being with the one you love?" "I-I don't know." "You don't know? Caroline I needed you to be there with me whether my parents found out or not. And I can't believe all you left a note." "Brian, I'm sorry. But I needed you too. I told you that I was at my sisters." "Yeah, half way up the damn east coast!" "Brian stop yelling!" "Just tell me why?(sound familiar?) " he said lowering his voice. "Oh god not now," Caroline thought to herself as she ran to the bathroom and closed the door. "What the hell's going on?" Brian said to himself as he ran to the door. Caroline finished throwing up. She cleaned herself off and slid down in the corner of the bathroom. "Caroline, are you okay?" Brian said knocking on the door. She didn't answer so Brian took it upon himself to go inside. He closed the door and kneeled down beside her. "So, you want to why I left?" tears started to roll down her cheeks. "It's because I'm pregnant. And I was scared and I needed you, but you weren't there. I didn't know what else to do. I needed someone to help me so I went to visit my sister. And I still kept in touch with Nick to see how you were doing because I missed you so much." Brian hugged her as she cried on his shoulder. "Brian I'm so sorry. I just didn't know what else to do." "Shhh it's okay." Brian could have kicked himself in the ass. But then it hit him. He's going to be a father. "You mean I'm going to be a father?" Brian said smiling. Caroline looked into his eyes. "Yes. You're going to be a father." They hugged and walked out of the bathroom. They went into Caroline's bedroom. Caroline layed down on the bed and soon fell asleep. Brian picked up the phone and dialed his number. "Hello?" came a groggly voice over the phone. "Nick? You're asleep already?" "Brian, man it's 12:30 a.m." "Oh sorry I woke you. I just wanted to say that I'm staying at Caroline's tonight. She really needs me." "I kinda figured that. Okay then. Night B." "Night. Bye" "Bye." Brian curled up beside Caroline wrapped his ams around her waiste and went to sleep.Next: Chapter 10 |
