Sweet Dreams Chapter 10 Caroline was up at 6 a.m. the next day. She couldn't sleep very much last night. She didn't want to wake up Brian so she lied there in bed and stroked his hair. She had no idea how she was going to live the rest of her life, and she was probably fired from her job right now. Caroline quietly slid out of bed and took a shower. She threw on another pair of gray baggy sweats and a black and gray Nautica t-shirt. She went into the living room and dialed her sisters phone number. "Hello?" "Hey Serena it's me Caroline." "Hey. How was your flight?" "A little on edge. I spent most of the flight in the bathroom throwing up. I have some great news." "What?" "Well when I got back yesterday I found out that Brian was let out of the hospital. He came out of the coma!" "That's great. So how did things go with him?" "They went fine. He's never been better." "No, I meant how did he react when you told him the news?" "Well, at first things didn't go as well because he was mad that I had left him. We had this little argument. In the middle of it I had to throw up so then I figured I have to tell him. But he was just as shocked and excited as I was. After that he apologized for acting like a jerk." "That's good. I'm glad to hear that everything�s okay. Alright I gotta go. I have to take Britney to school." "Okay. Bye." "Bye." She hung up the phone then dialed the dance academy where she worked. "Shining Star Dance Academy, how may I help you?" said the receptionist. "Hi, my name is Caroline Parker, is Ashayla Owens there?" (It's pronounced uh-shay-la) "Yes, please hold." There was a short pause. "Hello?" "Hey Ashayla, it's Caroline." "Hey. Where the hell have you been?" "Well so much for the welcome back. I've had a few personal things to take care of." "Hello? You�ve been gone almost a month. I don't think that any personal business takes that long. And when are you coming back?" "Gosh, what crawled up your butt?" "Look, I'm sorry. I've been asking myself the same question. I've just been so busy lately with YOUR classes plus mine, plus we have 'N SYNC booked for the week." "Oh I'm sorry I left you with so much work to do." "It's okay. I get paid for it," Ashayla said laughing. "Look, I'll try to be there by 10 a.m., okay?" "Okay. I'll see you then. And it's good to have you back!" "Okay. Bye." "Bye." Caroline was glad she hadn't lost her job. She could hear Brian getting up and walked into the bedroom. "What are you doing up so early?" Brian asked scratching his head. "I couldn't sleep that's all." "Listen, I just want to apologize for last night." "No, you don't have to. We both a lot of things going on with us, and we just had to let it out. It's okay." He kissed her cheek then walked to the bathroom. After he came out of the bathroom he called Nick to come pick him up. "Do you have to leave?" "Yeah. I have a lot of things to take care of. We have to finish recording the album and do a promotional tour for a couple of weeks." "Oh." "What's wrong?" "I know that your job will be keeping you busy for the next couple of weeks, but I just wanted to know if you'll be here for the baby. I can't do this by myself," she said quietly. "Of course I'll be there. For you and the baby." "Thank you," she said kissing him passionately. She brought the kiss to an end and looked him straight in the eye. "You are so good to me." They continued to kiss when they were interrupted by the sound of Nick's car horn. "Time for me to go," he sighed. He got up leave. "I'll see you later." "Bye." Nick and Brian left. Caroline figured since she already up she'd go get some breakfast. She had no food in her refrigerator so she headed to the Mc Donalds. She walked into the Mc Donalds and found A.J. waiting in line. He was wearing a disguise that was actually working. Usually be like 50 girls surrounding him asking for autographs. She didn't want to give him away so she tapped on his shoulder. "Hey how'd you know it was me?" he said in a hoarse whisper. "I've seen you too many times not to recognize you. So, are you getting breakfast?" "Yep. I figured I could get a little break before I got on down to the studio." They were now in the front of the line. "Welcome to McDonalds, how may I help you?" "Yeah I'd like a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich." He turned to Caroline. "What do you want?" "I'll have the same thing you're having along with an apple pie, some pancakes, hash browns, and an iced tea." "Damn girl, you gonna eat all that?" "Yep." He turned back to the cashier and gave her Caroline's order. "Is that everything?" "Yeah." "Okay your total is $20.75." A.J. paid the cashier and collected their food.
