Sweet Dreams Chapter 8 Three weeks had passed and Caroline had become very sick. She was put on a special medication to make sure that the baby wouldn't get the sickness. And another medication just for her sickness. She had to stay in bed for 2 weeks. She still called Nick everyday to check up on Brian. Everybody's family were holding up as best as they could and they took turns staying with Brian. "Caroline, are you sure you want to leave? I mean you're still sick and you need to get rest," Serena said helping with her suitcases. "Yeah I'm sure," she said as she put her suitcase in the trunk and closing it. "I mean it's time that I go back and be with Brian. I want to be the first face he sees when he wakes up." "Well it's good that you're so confident." "Serena, I just want to thank you for always being there for me and always supporting me. I don't know what I'd do without you." Caroline gave Serena a hug. "Awww, now you're gonna make me cry," Serena said choking down her tears. "Where's Britney? I want to say goodbye to her." "Britney!" Serena called. "Coming!" Britney ran outside towards them holding something in her hand. She gave Caroline a big hug. "I'm going to miss you." "I'm going to miss you too. I bought something for the baby. Well, it's actually for you." She held a black box in her hand and took out a silver bracelet with little baby charms around it. "It's beautiful. Thank you so much." Caroline began to cry. " I'm going to miss you guys, and I'll keep you informed on the baby. Come and visit me in Florida one day." She gave them each another hug and got in taxi.*Meanwhile at the hospital* Brian slowly opened his eyes and blinked to adjust to the bright lights of the hospital. He looked around and saw his mom asleep in a chair and Nick standing up looking at the view through the window. "Nick," Brian said in a hoarse whisper. Nick turned around and his expression turned into a surprised look. "Brian! Oh my god you're awake!" Nick practically ran towards the bed. "Shhh," he pointed to his mom. "Sorry. So how ya feelin?" "Better, I think. So how's everyone?" "Everyone's doing good. the first two weeks was hell, but we're pulling through. You should see how many gifts you've gotten from fans." "How's Caroline?" "Um she's... Well she asked me to give you this." He pulled out the envelope that Caroline gave him the day she left. "What's this?" "I don't know, but she told me to give you this as soon as you got up." Brian's mom began to wake up. "Brian, honey you're awake." "Hey mom." She walked up to the bed and held his hand. "I can tell you guys need to be alone. I'll go tell the rest of the guys the news." Nick exited the room. "How do you feel?" she said stroking his hair. "I feel better. I'm just exhausted though." "What's that?" she said pointing to the envelope. "It's uh, um a card that Nick gave to me from a fan that's all." "Oh. Well let get a doctor." When his mom left Brian took the note from the envelope and read it.Dear Brian,
Hey baby. How are you doing? I missed you so much. By the time you
read this I'll probably be staying with my sister in my hometown. This is
very hard for me to leave you like this, but please understand. I didn't
think that I should be hanging around with your family here. They might ask
me who I was and why I was here. I guess they don't read teeny bopper
magazines or else they would have known who I was by now. I didn't think that
I should be the one to tell them. It's something we should do together. I
love you with all my heart and soul.
Love,
Caroline
Brian quickly shoved the note back in the envelope just as his mom and the doctor returned.
"Hello Mr.Littrell, my name is Dr.Valentine."
"Oh please, call me Brian. Mr.Littrell makes me feel old."
"Okay then Brian, we're going to run some tests to make sure you're okay, and if all goes well you can leave tomorrow."
"Goodie," he said rubbing his hands together.
They wheeled him to another section of the hospital and on the way they stopped past the waiting room so everyone could see Brian.
*Back in Frederick*
It started to thunder and pour down raining. The taxi pulled into the parking lot. Caroline rushed inside, trying to avoid the rain, with her suitcases and ran up to the main desk. She handed her ticket to the woman behind the desk.
"I'm sorry, but all flights are postponed because of the weather."
"Shit," she said under her breath. "Okay thank you."
Dressed in baggy gray sweat pants, a baby tee, and her hair done in a messy bun, Caroline walked over to the only available seat next to a woman and her two 4 year old bratty kids. She sank in her chair. She was miserable. She was tired, she was hungry, and she was pregnant with a bad attitude.
*Back at the hospital*
"Hey son, how are you feeling?" Brian's father asked smiling down at him.
"Never felt better," he said, answering everyone's question. "Hey Nick, come here."
He pulled him down and whispered in his ear. "I need to talk to you about this Caroline thing."
"Okay, tomorrow when you get out of the hospital."
"Okay."
"Time to go Mr.- I mean Brian," Dr.Valentine said.
She wheeled him down to the testing ward where they drew some blood, took x-rays, and look at his heart.Next: Chapter 9 |
