One Sweet Day Chapter 5 The next day when Nicole woke up she overheard Brian and Tina talking in the dining room. "Brian you should see her," she said while putting dishes in the sink. "She's so pale. And she's become so paranoid." "Did she say why or tell you what's wrong with her?" "She said that it was work, but I know it's not that. You should have heard the things we said to eachother yesterday. It was like she wasn't even my friend anymore." She held her head in her hands and ran her fingers through her hair. "It's okay. Why don't you let me talk to her." He walked to Nicole's room and knocked on the door. "Come in," she called. "Niki we need to talk," he said walking in and closing the door. "I was talking to Tina and she told me some things that were going on with you." "What did she tell you?" "It doesn't matter what she told me. The question is, what's going on with you?" he said sitting on her bed. "There is nothing going on with me Brian," she said with frustration in her voice. "I told Tina and now I'm telling you it's just work. "You know I've never noticed how pale you are now," he held out her arm and stroked her hand. "Baby what's going on with you?" he said with sadness in his voice. It tore Brian up to see her like this. It was almost like seeing a ghost. She snatched her hand away from him. "Brian I can't stop." "You can't stop what?" he asked getting confused. She had all kinds of emotions passing through her mind and she needed to sort them out. She looked him dead in the eye with emptiness inside of her. "I gotta go." She grabbed her car keys and ran out of the apartment. She could hear Brian and Tina calling after her. She ignored their pleas and started up her car. She pulled out of the parking lot and just started driving. Anywhere. After a few minutes of driving everything began to blur. She blinked her eyes trying to concentrate. Everything remained a blur. She fainted and her eyes rolled in the back of her head. With the car still going it swerved out of control into the opposite lane and crashed into another car.Next: Chapter 6 |
