Meadow Girl Chapter 5 Lily looked up at Brian. She had a sad look face. Brian just looked back at her. A tear slowly fell down his face. The tear of course wasn't his. It was hers. And as Brian held her, her pain seeped into him. And although it hurt him and made him cry. He continued to hold her tightly with comfort until she jerked away from him. "I'm sorry." Lily said she backed away from him. Lily then stood up and ran down off the hill. "Wait!" Brian yelled. "You don't need me now Brian, not yet. You need to deal with this by yourself." She said back to him and ran off again. Brian started after her, but froze in his tracks. He didn't know why he had stopped. He wanted to run after her. He knew that he trusted her. And something about what she had said rolled around in Brian's head. 'I don't need her now. Why don't I need her. What do I have to deal with on my own.' Just then pain swept through Brian. I knocked him to his knees. He winced at his pain. He leaned against the giant oak. The rain still pouring down from the sky. Blood dripped from his finger tips and his body felt like it was being sliced into pieces. He collapsed in pain. "LILY!!" He yelled to blank space. Her voice filled his pained mind. "I'm sorry Brian, but you have to deal with this on your own." She was crying softly. Brian looked to see where she was. Even though he knew she wasn't there. Blood slowly dripped from his fingers to the cold moist ground. He felt his mind throbbing with piercing pain. Blood was now everywhere. All over his body and covering the ground. Where had it come from? Where was it coming from? Brian couldn't think, for even thinking gave him great pain. He couldn't move, couldn't talk, couldn't think. He was alone. He tried to yell out for Lily again. Blood bubbled in his throat. He choked and gagged on it. Spiting out what he could and then trying to yell out for Lily once more. Blood again bubbled up his throat, he could not breathe. Brian then pulled all his strength together and made on last effort to communicate with Lily. He lifted his hand to the sky and held it out to her. Where ever she was. He felt her soft touch.Nick starred, from the door where he stood, at the two hospital beds that stood side by side in the large hospital room. But mostly he starred at the two very unconscious figures lying on them. Hand in hand. The two lifeless figures that were pretty much vegetables lay on their hospital beds. Each with their hand in the others. Nick with his jaw wide and open. Turned from the room and ran down the hall to the cafeteria where the other guys went to grab a bite to eat with the two other girls that were with Lily. He ran down the hall as hard as he could to get the guys and the other girls. Nick had forgotten their names. But that wasn't important.Brian opened his eyes. Lily stood before him. Her hand in his. It was sunny and warm again. No more rain and there Brian's pain had gone. "You need me now Brian, I need you now." Lily said still standing before him. Brian stood up and looked at her. He was still holding her hand. He feared that if he let her go he would feel the pain again. They both looked at each other for some time. Just starring into one anothers eyes. Lily then leaned against Brian and held him. Brian broke down in tears. And although his pain had left him. It still remained in his mind. Taunting him and cursing at him. Brian couldn't shake the pain in his mind. All he could do was cry. "You need me now, now and forever. To be with, to cry with and even die with." Lily recited the verse over and over until it stuck in Brian's mind and the two of them spoke it together. "You need me now, now and forever.
