Meadow Girl Chapter 1 Brian awoke in a cold sweat. He was shivering and breathing hard. A storm had arrived. Rain poured outside his hotel, and thunder cracked loudly. Brian sat straight up in his bed. He rubbed his eyes and groaned slightly. His head pounded furiously. "What happen-" CRACK Bright light and a loud bang shook the room. An instinctive reflex hit Brian and he pulled the bed sheets over his head. The window shattered. A thick snow of broken glass covered the room. Rain fell through the broken window. Brian slowly emerged from his hiding place and staggered out of his bed. He made his way across the glass covered floor to the door. When he finally arrived at the door he reached for the chain latch lock with his right hand. It shook uncontrollably. He raised his left to steady the shaking hand. Brian unlocked the chain latch lock. He then placed his hands on the knob, gave it a gentle grip and then turned it. The door opened. The hotel's hallway was dark and with no windows the darkness was thick and almost suffocating. Brian had assumed the power was out. Brian remembered that Nick's room was next to his. Brian, with his hands touching the wall, made his way there. After a few moments Brian was out of breath. He closed his eyes and leaned on the wall to rest. Brian let out a long sigh releasing anxiety. Brian was still sweating and shivering. He could now barely breathe. "Brian." A voice behind him said. Brian opened his eyes. The lights were on. He turned around. "Nick?" Brian said in a muffled out of breath tone. Brian was surprised to see Nick up this late. But Brian was suddenly embarrassed when he realized that he was walking in the wrong direction. "Where are you-Man Brian you look horrible are you alright? Nick said seeing his friend hunched over in obvious pain and barely breathing. "Where... The....... Meadow.... Girl.... She.... Warned.....me......................" Brian trailed off. He could no longer breathe. He could no longer compete with what was happening. There was nothing more Brian could do for himself. He was giving up. The room spun. Brian could feel himself falling.
