1908-1910 Matilda is living with John Drury in Tenstrike/Hines area Taylor Townshp. MN. One of their children had died. her siblings: Nelson, Fred, Alice, Eli were living with them on their farm because Armenia had died of pnuemonia..
4-1911 Matilda is living by herself up in BigFalls, Koochingching Co. MN (It seems she left her siblings with John...there are post cards written to her up there, by them.).
8-1911 John/Jack Drury is living in Hines, Beltrami Co. MN
11-1912 Court papers say Matilda wilfully left JE DRURY in 1911.

1913
Divorce papers were drawn and served to Matilda in Big Falls.

6-6-1914
Matilda made no response. DRURY was granted the divorce.
                    Papers said no living children between them.


6-30-1914
Matilda gives birth to Winnifred Beatrice Lorabelle Drury.
                   Said father: John E. Drury b. IA.

It is said Winnie was sent to Matilda's sister Angie Floura Fleury Hagen in Bemidji, MN from age 6 months to 8 years.
1920 Census has Winnie age 5 with Angie Hagen 33, son Earl 10,
Lewis Shadiow 43 divorced lodger who worked at Mill Right and his son Clyde Shadiow 17, and Matilda's brother: William Floura 27.

1906ish Matilda F. DRURY
Matilda (or Winnie) had a scrapbook with lots of clippings saved  about a prominent black activist Lawyer
Charles W. Scrutchin b.9-11-1866 Richmond, VA. Raised til he was 10 in GA...Moved to Spokane WA (Graduated HS in Spokane) went to for a degree in 1890 for 3 years, at University of Washington. In 1893, Scrutchin began his practice in Chicago IL. Went to Ann Arbor, MI in 1894 to get his Masters. In 1898 started his practice  in Bemidgi, MN. He was a Republican, Unitarian, Mason &. Member of Odd Fellows. (From Who's Who of the Colored Race p. 234, 1915 by Frank Lincoln Mather.)

In 3-19-1906 registered with the MN Land Office for Cass Lake, MN (Hubbard or Beltrami Co.) One of the newspaper clippings referred to an aquittal in a Bemidji Murder Case with
DOG FACE JOE. Judge Martin resided over the case. ("BlackStone") This was from the Grand Forks Herald Newspaper. Matilda and Winnie referred to Mr. Scrutchin  as "James or Jim".  He married 8-27-1900 to a white gal Laura P. ARNOLD Scrutchins b.12-9-1866, of Bemidji MN.. d. 12-18-1928 Beltrami Co. MN. cert. # 128 MN 000665. She was 62 years old. Housewife with heart and kidney trouble for the last 3 years of her life. Her father was Wm. ARNOLD. 
Charles W. Scrutchin died 7-14-1930 in Beltrami Co. MN of dropsy/apoplexy.
His mother was
Barbara Grafrene, his father was William ScrutchinAll born in VA.
1920 Census 41/6 47/60 Koochinching CO. MN:
Albert McLaughlin age 44 b. WI was living with John Hamilton age 20 b. Poland.
