| The motive for selling the string bags (bilum) and the like is the brainchild of David Ulg Ketepa - a native of Mount Hagen, Western Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea. I spent the last 27 years in Papua New Guinea and six years in the United States. Growing up in some of the remote parts of Papua New Guinea, I've seen people enduring the agony of trying to sell their produce as well as their art and craft handiworks at a proper market. Therefore, with some of the capable resources at my disposal, I created this website (my first ever) to assist these womenfolk as well as to help them expose their hidden talents. Most of the work done by these women are for church, fellowship, and non-governmental organizations to enchance their community based activities. |
The aim of this website is to generate some financial support by selling the handiworks, seek gifts of cash and kind to help the disfranchise and the underprivilege so that they can be part of the community through the community-based activities. The activities on this website are not for commercial purposes or for profit but to help support community based groups to help others. One of the hinderance in selling their produce and the art and craft work is a proper market niche and therefore this online based initative is a mechanism for a possible market venue as well as seeking donations of cash and kind to help these groups. All profits and donations generated here are given back to the rural communities in Papua New Guinea to boost their self-reliance projects. All donations of cash and kind (clothings, computers, laptops, shoes, books etc...) will be accepted to cater for HIV/AIDS orphans and schools in some of the remote parts of Papua New Guinea. ' We wholeheartedly thank you all for your generosity ' Donations can be forwarded to: |
