Where it all began, Thats me sitting on the tank with Dad when I was approximately 3 years of age. Taken in Holland. Note the design of the side car, not bad for 1958.
Well, what a shitheap this was, but only cost $100. It was actually my first car, and only purchased as a back-up during a very torrid winter, after getting continually drenched on the real mode of transportation. I only kept it for that winter and drove it to the local rubbish tip and left it there.
My first "real" Bike, a 1969 Triumph Bonneville 650. A very dependable workhorse. It looked and sounded like a bike should! I went all over Australia on this and it didn't miss a beat. It was eventually stolen from outside the Hampton Hotel in Melbourne one Saturday afternoon never to be seen again
After the Triumph was stolen I decided to get a Trident 750, only to be dissapointed with a then strike at the Factory in the UK. I subsequently took delivery of a Norton Commado 750 in 1973 and never looked back. With isolastic suspension, a disc brake etc it was an exhilarating machine.
It had a few minor faults, but with regular maintenance performed superbly. I had this bike untill 1984 and got my money back plus. I travelled far and wide and never experienced any major problems I would love to get my hands on one again when the billies grow up, just to play with hehe.
This little Holden Torana proved a great car as well. I had this for a couple of years and regularly took it "bush". Notice the "knobby" type tyres in this image. They went put on weekends for shooting trips. I used to chase feral pigs in this across the black soil plains of Northern new South Wales LOL. Apart from some damage incurred (always my fault), it never ever failed me.
After the Torana I decided to get something with a little bit more go, and this ford Cortina, relatively small but with a 4,1 Ltr crossflow coupled with a 4 spd manual did the trick very nicely. Even had room for my camping gear, rifles, rods and of course a very large esky. This car went everywhere and apart from normal servicing, cost me nothing. A great little car. Only fault was it was a Ford.
As the years rolled by I decided to indulge myself in a little more luxury and , in 1980, bought this HZ Holden Statesman deville, which at the time was a local luxury car. 5 Ltr V8, Turbo 400 auto, pwr steering, air cond, etc etc which where still optional extras in all other models. And very roomy! This served me very well for the next 17 years, doing over 500,000 miles. In its later years it was converted to LP gas with ni side effects. Apart from normal servicing, the only things that failed in this car in all those years was a water pump and a coil. The motor stayed intact and pulled like a steamtrain. the body was stripped back to bare metal once and all rubber etc replaced. If they still sold then new, would have no hestitation. It came to its demise compliments of a scumbag crashing a red light while I was on the way to work. :(

This edition is this 1994 VR Holden Executive station wagon. 3.8 fuel injected V6 engine. We have had this one for about 3 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. I bought it at auction for a song with 130,000 kms on the clock. It was an ex-Govt. car based in the bush and all its miles were hot. Its been a beauty, and we hope to have it for a while to come yet.
We just got this one last week. a 2001 VX executive series 2, with every concievable extra available, including 2 airbags, Limited slip diff, sports suspension, ABS etc etc. It has only 41,000 kilometres on it and it is an ex-Police highway car. This was bought at auction as well, and came with the balance of the factory warranty [2 years]. A magnificent car to drive. I spoke to the bushytail who drove it for its life in the Police Force and he couldn't fault it. We hope to sell this one soon, so, we can get another , hehe.
