Ocean Floor Mural
Our study of habitat and geography led us to investigate the ocean floor. We read the book The Magic School Bus Ocean Floor, and learned that like people, animals are affected by where they live. We made a huge mural of the ocean floor so that we could better envision where the different sea creatures live. We were amazed at what we saw.
Perhaps the most exciting realization we had was that islands are actually underwater mountains! Before we saw this cross section of the ocean, many students in our class believed that islands were actually pieces of land floating on top of the water. Look how much we learned!
