We met her on
this day, she is an 1 8years old pregnant mother who has visited the hospital
only twice during her 8 month period of pregnancy. She also complained of severe
abdominal pains and general body weakness. She has difficulty feeding trice a
day and most of the time she eats Banku without fish twice a day. Balm
foundation gave her financial assistance to visit the hospital and also take
care of some of her needs.
MISS H.
She is also an 18year old Primary six pupil who is 2months pregnant she has never visited the
hospital and finds it extremely difficult to feed herself. She lives with only
her mother who works in a rice plantation from 6am to 6pm for a small amount of
money. She also came to us when she heard that we were around and we promised to
assist her financially so that she can visit the hospital regularly.
MISS N.
She is a J.S.S
graduate who gained admission at Ada Senior Secondary School but could not go to
school because she had nobody to support her financially. She lives with only
her mother, her father died when she was only six years old and she had nobody
in her family to support her. She also came to the office of Balm Foundation
when she heard that we were around. She does not even have money to pay for her
transportation to collect her admission letter. She is willing to continue her
education but the only problem is money.
UNEMLOPYED
YOUTH
About six
unemployed youth from the village with various level of education also visited
the office of balm foundation on this day and they were all appealing to the
founder to get them jobs to do since they are finding it extremely difficult to
feed and clothe themselves. One of these people is a potential father, which
makes his situation very pathetic.
AGED GROUP
The fifteen (15)
aged and needy people which Balm Foundation have decided to help by feeding and
finding befitting accommodation for were all visited and later on invited to our
office at Natriku where they were fed and entertained for the whole day. These
aged people include four blind people and all of them are having various degrees
of health problems these include high blood pressure, general body weakness
among others. One of these blind people lives in a very small hut alone with
nobody to guide or assist her whiles she moves about both in the house and in
town. She cooks her own food and does everything by herself with a lot of
difficulty. From the look of things these aged people seriously needs medical
attention as well as basic social attention for survival.

STUDENT GROUP
We visited the
Junior Secondary School in the community and had a talk with them on very issues
such as teenage pregnancy, pre-marital sex, drug abuse and HI V/AIDS. After this
meeting it was announced to all the girls to visit our office after school for
an important discussion, it was at this meeting that they were counseled on
individual bases and it was found out that out of the 45girls who came 18 of
them ranging from 15 to 20 years engage in active sex, some are just like
prostitutes. They were encouraged to stop and most of them promised to quit. The
virgins were grouped into an already existing virgins club, which is being fonned by the foundation. We now have a detailed record of the 18 girls who we
shall be calling for counseling and other youth programmes that we shall
organize in order to help them.

Report - 18 NOVEMBER 2005
We visited
additional five (5) aged people at Akuse they were all between the ages of 70-
85. They also live under very deplorable conditions with two of them having
nobody to look after them at all since all their children are dead. They also
had various degree of health problems. They seriously depend from people around
them to survive which is definitely not readily available and also not reliable.
They came from the surrounding villages mainly Somanya and Torgorme.
We also had our
second group which was the PLWHA we had seven (7) of them their ages range
between twenty-eight (28) and sixty (60), they were really frank with us by
telling us their names, how they got to know they have the disease, the person
catering for them, problems, their health conditions among others.
We also talked
about how best they think they can be helped and how they can contribute towards
that since we have to know about the best way t o help them thus the most
prudent way to tackle the problem since resources are scarce.
We paid the
Transportation fare for each and every individual that was present there and
also provided them with their feeding for the day.
