"Men are scum!" Judi proclaimed. "Lousy pounds of flesh that are good for only one purpose. And some of them don't even do that well." She and her group of friends sat at a table in the dining hall, eating what the school called lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon. It was only the first week of school for the college sophomores and already Judi was on her soapbox. Rogue, Jackie, Meg, and Trisha could only listen as she continued to degrade the males of the species. Most of what she was saying true. Sometimes they took up too much of our time and energy. But, as Judi mentioned, they did serve a good purpose once taught correctly. Of course, Rogue had no experience in that area. And, frankly, what Judi was saying wasn't exactly encouraging.
"I'm going to go get some more ketchup for my fries," Rogue said, getting up from the table. As she rounded the corner, she walked right into a large solid object and fell down, hitting the ground with a loud thud. Since when was there a wall there, she wondered.
"Sorry, Rogue."
She looked up into a pair of soft blues eyes and a cute gap toothed grin. She had, once again, run right smack into Glenn Jacobs. Or The Redwood, as she liked to refer to him. He lifted her up by the armpits and picked the French fries from her fair.
"I guess I didn't see you."
"Just try to keep these meetings down to once a week. I don't have enough cushion where it counts."
Hearing the crash of the plates and Rogue hitting the floor, Meg and Judi were soon at her side. After explaining the little accident and making introductions, Rogue went to get a new plate of fries and ketchup. She turned and saw Mark Calloway, Glenn's roommate, standing by her side.
"Heard you fell on your behind again," he said, snatching a fry from her plate.
"You two need to wear cowbells or something. The general public needs to be warned when you're nearby." She stormed back to the table to join her friends. She sat down, banging her plate down on the table in the process.
"Who was that you were talking to over by the ketchup?" Judi asked.
"Him? That was Mark, Glenn's roommate. They're both in my dorm and my history class. Glenn's a sweetheart. Needs to look down more, but sweet none the less. Mark, on the other hand, can really work a nerve."
"Oh." Judi had a funny look in her eyes.
"What do you mean, 'Oh'?"
"Nothing."
"It looks like she's started up again. I can see lust in her eyes." Meg said.
"Like you should talk. I saw the way you were looking at Glenn. You were ready to jump the boy." Judi stated.
The clock outside struck one and the group dispersed. Trisha had class. Jackie was meeting her boyfriend Jeff at the library. Meg, Judi, and Rogue walked back to their rooms. Since they lived in separate dorms, Meg and Judi went one way and Rogue went another.
"Don't forget about the frat party tonight at 8." Judi called back.
"I'm not going," Rogue said.
"Sure you are. You gotta live a little."
"I'll think about it. Call ya later!"
