Chapter 23
Two days later at Justin's house....
It had been nothing but confusion for Justin over the late two days about his encounter with Amelia's mother and friend. He didn't understand how a parent could be so bias and force such strong hatered on a child to follow. From what he saw of Amelia, she was nothing like that and had seemed to block out all hate for whites or she would have never become his friend. The questions that he kept asking himself was, why did Amelia go against her parents wishes and what did Mrs. Jacobs mean by "she had done this once before"?

Here he was now, sitting down, waiting for his door bell to ring with Amelia standing at the front steps. He was very nervous especially since he was going to confront her with the grocery store incident. Was she going to be offened or open up and talk about it, thought Justin. As, he finished up his last thought, the doorbell rang and he felt his hands shaking as he went to grab the handle. Once the door was wide open enough, he was met was a bright and smiley Amelia even with the rainy and dark day.

"Hey, J. Whats up?," said Amelia, while Justin and her hugged.

"Nothing up much. I'm glad you could come, I was getting pretty lonely in the big house. Would you like anything to drink?," replied Justin as they walked in the livingroom.

"Yes, please. Anything will do," said Amelia, sitting down on the plush beige couch. Getting a good look around Justin's livingroom, she was captivated. The room made her feel so comfortable with its mixed colors of beige and gold. She could tell by the way the room was decorated, that he possibly had a woman help. Turning her head around when Justin came back, she took the glass of water and graciously thanked him.

"So, what have you been up to lately? We haven't been able to talk or see eachother much," said Justin, getting comfortable beides Amelia.

"Ha ha ha, I know. I've been very busy with work and school. A little streesed but, hopefully it will get better soon," said Amelia.

"Yeah, I know how that can be. Luckily, I have a long and awaited break," sighed Justin.

"How is your mother? I have not seen her since your party," said Amalia, putting her glass softly onto the table.

"She's doing very good. We went shopping together and had our little mother and son day," laughed Justin,.

"Aww..., that is so sweet. You're a momma's boy. It's really adorable," cooed Amelia.

"What about your mom? You haven't talked that much about her," asked Justin, trying not to rush to much into the conversation about her mother and possibly make her feel uncomfortable.

Shocked came across Amelia face, as Justin asked about her mother. Conversation about her parents between them ahd always been sweet and short because she didn't want to tell him about her familys racist ways.It might scare him away and she didn't want that.

"Umm..., my mother is doing fine. I know, its just.... that my family isn't always the best thing to talk about with me," relpied Amelia in a solemn tone.

"I think I already figured that part out. I met your mother when I went shopping and lets just say the things she said was very shocking to me," said Justin, making complete eye contact with Amelia.

"Oh god... no. Justin, I am so sorry. What ever she said that was disrepectful to you or your mother forgive me. I should have told you sooner about my familys ways but, I was just afraid about the way you would react," said Amelia, covering her hands with her eyes.

Moving closer to her, Justin wrapped his arms around her." Amelia, it's not your fault. Even though I know now, it still doesn't change the way I look at you. You aren't racist like your family and that is a good thing," said Justin.

"Yeah, you're right. I'm not like them, I've never ever been like them. I think I'm adopted," giggled Amelia as she made that last comment.

"Ha ha ha, no you're not. You look just like your mother. Amelia, what did your mom mean when she said"she had done this one before"?" said Justin, Amelia unwraps herself from Justins arms.

"Wow, she said that? Well, there was this one time where I had fallen in love with a white boy and kept it a secret from them, until my father found us in the back yard at night. He threaten Brad to stay away from me and I got punished for it," said Amelia as a tear came sliding down her soft carmel cheek.

"What do you mean by punish? Did he hit you?," asked Justin.

Turning her head away from Justin and walking to the fireplace. She sliently stood there listening to the pouring rain. Justin sat there speechless again. He couldn't believe that she was beaten because she had fell in love with someone of a different rcae. 'For god sakes this isn't slavery times', thought, Justin. Walking over towards Amalia, he stood behind her for a few seconds until she turned around and broke down crying into his arms.

Slowly he walked the both of them to the couch and held her. He let her pour our her heart with her teras. A few mintutes had past and he noticed that her crys had subsided and were placed with light snores. Lifting her up softly, he made his way to one of the many guestrooms he had. Balancing Amelia with one arm andhis left knee, he opened the bedroom door as fast as he could. Lightly placing her on the bed, he pulled the covers hallway onto her body and placed a soft kiss on her forhead before walking out, leaving the door ajar.
