Chapter 22
The grocery store....
"Mom what type of soap do you want?," said Justin as he scan the rows of soap.

"I want dove soap. They have such a nice smell," replied Lynn.

Walking towards his mother, he put two three pack of dove soap. Looking over his shoulder, he noticed that some girl was looking at him and he felt uneasy. He was so used to Lonnie being at his side at all times, especially when he went out in public to shop. Shopping was the most likely place to see lots of girls and when it came to his status and girls, it just doesn't mix. Pushing the cart over to his mother, they carried on with their expedition.

Halfway through their grocery list, Lynn decided to spark up an conversation with Justin about his friendship with Amelia. For Lynn it was just out of curiosity and the sake of her sons heart. Justin was her little boy and she woould be damned if he got hurt again. Then again, Amelia seemed like an girl she could trust and the way Amelia presented herself to her was very different from the other girls.

"So, sweetie, how is your friendship with Amelia?," said Lynn, while getting a box of Apple Jaxs for Johnathan.

"It's going great so far. I trust her alot but, I don't know how to tell her about my other life," said Justin.

"How is it that you trust her but, you can't share with her one of the most important thing in your life," replied Lynn.

"I don't know. My mind is telling me she going to turn on me and my heart is telling me to go for it," said Justin.

"Personally, I would tell her alone in private. Go with your heart and take a chance. From what I've seen she seems like a trust worthy girl," said Lynn.

"You're right momma. I'm going to call her later and ask her if she can come over sometime," said Justin.

"Momma is always right," laughed Lynn as her and Justin started towards the cashier.

A few feet away...
"Oh my god! He's here with his mother," whispered Mya, getting Mrs. Jacobs attendtion.

"Who's him? Is it that boy? Where is he?," questioned Mrs. Jacobs.

"He is the one in the  'work sucks' hat with the burnette lady. Must be his mother," said Mya.

"So, this is the boy that has my daughter all strung up? Hes not even cute. Look at the way he dresses," complained Mrs. Jacobs.

"I know what you mean. He's tearing apart a six year friendship between Amelia and I," said Mya, putting on her best hurt/sad face.

"Well, you know what? I'm going to go over there and give him a piece of my mind," said Mrs.Jacobs as she stalked off before Mya could stop her.

Mrs. Jacobs strutted herself over towards Justin and tapped him on the shoulder to get his attendtion. Her face was stiff as Justin turned around to face her with his mother watching. When they met eye contact, she immediately exploded before Justion could say a simple hello or what could I do for you?.

"So, you the boy that has stolen my daughter away from her friends and family," said Mrs. Jacobs as Justin gave an confused look.

"Miss, I have no clue what your talking about? Who is your daughter?," said Justin.

"My name is Mrs. Jacobs and you know my daughter very well. Does the name Amelia strike a cord?," replied Mrs. Jacobs.

"Mrs. Jacobs? Your Amelia's mom! Ummm.. Yeah I know her and what do you mean by I've stolen your daughter?," said Justin.

"So, you don't know about the rules we've set for Amelia when it comes to guy friends and boyfriends?, said Mrs. Jacobs.

"I don't understand," said Justin, looking back at his mother who wore an confused look.

Before Amelia's mother could respond to that question, Mya interfered. "Amelia is to never and I mean never date or befriend a white person. She knew what she was doing when she got involve with you and your friends and now she paying for her mistakes," said Mya.

"What?! You have got to be kidding me?," said Lynn, coming beside her son.

"No, I am not. I would really apreciate it if you would stay away from my daughter because I will make sure she will too. No one in my family has accepted whites nor have we dated whites and Amelia will not be the first to disrepsect our family by doing so. She has done this once and she payed the price but this is down right on purpose. Since she is an hard headed child, if she does so, I will have no choice to dis-own her. That is all I have to say to you and hopefully this will be the last. Have a nice day," said Mrs. Jacobs as she and Mya exited the grocery store, forgetting about what they came in to get in the first place.

Justin and Lynn stood there speechless as Amelia's mother and best friend left. Never in his life did he ever think that Amelia's family was racist, since she shedded no sign of hatred towards him or his family and friends. Now this was going to be one more problem he had to deal with and he knew he had to get in contact with Amelia and fast.
