MY STUDY
Fall 1999 at MSU
Digital Signal Processing
This course introduced me
to the basic principles of Signal Processing. Worked on basic DSP experiments
using Matlab. Also worked on TMS320C3X DSP Processor as part of the DSP lab.
Adaptive Signal Processing
This course was kinda a
continuation for the DSP course. The course covered the principles of optimal
and adaptive signal processing. Played with stuff like adaptive filtering
algorithms, LMS algorithms, spectral analysis and array signal processing.
Programming Languages
This was one interesting
course cuz all I did was program in languages like LISP, Prolog. Apart
from programming excercises in the above mentioned languages, I also learnt
about various features available in other languages like C, C++, Java,
Ada, Fortran etc.
Spring 2000 at Tenn Tech
Telecommunication Networks
This course introduced me
to topics like ATM, SONET, SMDS, IPv6, X.25, Aloha. Really enjoyed reading
the book "High performance communication networks" by Jean Walrand and
Pravin Varaiya. As part of the course, I wrote a technical paper titled
"Enhancing performace of TCP/IP over satellite networks". I will soon put
up a web version of this paper.
Computer Networks
This course introduced me
to the basic networking principles like OSI model, TCP/IP model. Also learnt
stuff like LANs, WANs, bridges, routers. This course also provided me with
an opportunity to explore Java. As part of the course, I did a project
titled "simulation of Bellman-Ford routing algorithm" using Java.
Advanced Digital Design
Learnt the basics of VHDL
and Verilog HDL. Used Xilinx to develop VHDL and Verilog HTL codes and
simulate the codes. Also did a project which dealt with simulation
of an UART (universal asynchronous receiver transmitter).
