Day 2

Is there anybody..out there?

Quote from Leonard Nemoy upon turning the game on: "Don't worry...with persistance your Seamen will respond to your...affection for them."

Something tells me the game knows that my friend was cussing at the Seamen.

So far, our attempts at getting them to learn English are only backhanding us in the face. They refuse to speak English, and instead talk to us in German and Russian.

They look the same, save that they are a bit bigger. We compared them to brand new Seamen that my other friend hatched.

Day 3

The tank turns into a hellhole

We awoke this morning to find the Seaman quite a bit bigger. When one is picked up, he looks nearly twice the size that he was last night. I love exponential growth. :)

Disaster has struck the tank. 2 Seamen have died. My friend witnessed a death. He told me that one of them stuck his antenna in the underside of another, and "sucked out his guts or something because the other was screaming in agony!!!" in his own words. I only saw the very last part. At first I thought something ELSE was going on, but then I noticed that the Seaman was letting out a silent scream and his body was getting wider and thinner again repeatedly. The dead Seaman floated to the top of the tank.

I don't know if this is true or not, but my friend's favorite dreams have come true. The Seamen have gone cannibalistic on each other.

Later that day...

Leonard Nemoy informs us upon returning that our Seamen are bloodsucking each other because they are starving to death. Now my friend feels bad because he lost 2, not to cannibalism, but to his own mistakes.

Day 4

I was up above it..now I'm down in it...

Upon examining the Seamen today, we noticed that they were beginning to get some more defined colors. Scales were more visible, and a clear slash of red is forming along the lateral line. (For you uninformed, the lateral line is a line of sensors horizontally along the fish's body. It helps them to sense things in the water, like other fish, or possible predators.)

They have begun to learn new words today. We heard "fish," "good," "yes," "no," "fun," and "night."

Day 5

YES!! HAHAHAHA!

They finally know English! They speak in full sentences now, and respond to most everything said to them. The funnies thing was "Wuzzap G!" responded with "Hangin.." They say other things that are cool too, like "Greetings and salutations" and "I rock!"

They still are killing each other though, this I don't understand because we keep feeding them. Spock says that this is due to natural selection.

They are very long now, about 4 inches or so, and when we pick them up they say "Put me back! Put me back!"
