PHU PHRA FOREST PARK
| This fall is Located on Phu Phan Mountain in the vicinity of Ban Kaeng Ka-Am. Tambon Pha Sawoei, Amphoe Somdet, 17 kilometers along Somdet-Sakon Nakhon Highway from the office of Amphoe Somdet. Originally, the villagers called it Pha Rang Raeng but in the year 1954 when H.M. the King and the Queen passed by this area and had lunch over there. The name was then changed to be Pha Sawoeoi (Royal Dining Cliff).The Pha Sawoei is situated on a high steep cliff having a deep gorte down below. Being on Pha Sawoei one can view good scenery and get good relaxation. |

It is located. somewhat 36 kilometers from Kalasin Province township. in the
vicinity of Amphoe Yang Talat along Highway No. 209 or Kalasin - Maha Sarakham Highway
where a right turn is to be made at KM.10 for another 26 Kilometers along the asphalt
road to the Dam. lt is an earthen dam, 33 meters above water level. The dam ridge is 7.8 kilometers long and eight meters wide. |
The construction was started in 1963 and
completed in 1968 having the purpose to block the streams of Lam Pao River and Huai Yang River at Ban Nong Song Hong, Tambon
Lampao, Amphoe Muang Kalasin. The dam originates two reservoirs which were later joined by a dug canal
providing the capacity to store water of 1,430 million cubic metres. The dam can help rescue
flood disaster, promote cultivation, as well as to be a source of aqua culture. There is a
relaxation spot called Dok Ket Beach which is regarded a heaven of the north easterners.

The park is located in the east of Lam Pao Reservoir occupying an area of 1,420 rai and it is a natural forest park. The government offices concerned such as Tourism Authority of Thailand, Forest Department, Royal irrigation Department, Highway Department have cooperated to establish an open zoo national park by bringing various kinds of wild animals to naturally live there. The identity animals of the park are wild bulls and the characteristics of the forest is deciduous forest having a rather perfect condition. |
