Orsis

Persona Information
Name: Orsis
Age: 47
Sex/Preference: male/heterosexual
Rank/Title/Position: Weyrhealer/master healer
Main Location: Weyr

Physical Description- Orsis has short black hair, brown eyes, stands about 5'11, with a stocky build, large hands stained by redwort, a round face, a dimple in his left cheek and skin that is tanned and lightly freckled. By his build, he would be better suited as a smith but everyone who knows him says he is a jolly healer.

Emotional Description- Orsis has a wonderful bedside manner. Rarely does he panic about an emergency, combining levelheadedness with speed. He is innovative but won't stray too far in his experimentation to save the life of a patient. He enjoys chatting with his patients while he works and most find him easy to trust.

Orsis runs a tight ship but is not a dictator. He values the input of his workers. He is compassionate and forgiving but after three strikes, you're out. He has a great heart for his apprentices and loves to show them little tidbits of the craft that most of the journeymen overlook.

Brief History: Orsis was born at Sakura Hold, the youngest son of journeyman healer Shad and journeywoman healer Darissa. He followed his father around when he visited patients and so there was no surprise when he expressed interest in joining the healercraft at the age of twelve.

Orsis was a quick-learning student and a favorite of the class. He wasn't much of a ladies' man though, often falling shy when the opposite sex approached. He preferred outgoing women but most of them wouldn't talk with him because he was so quiet. So Orsis went through his apprenticeship without many dates but didn't mind. His father gave him his bronze firelizard Embrel when he was fifteen. Orsis quickly became a journeyman three turns later.

During his first posting, Orsis fell in love with a girl named Falgra and had a daughter by her. Unfortunately, Orsis was relocated shortly afterwards and Falgra never forgave him. She fed her young daughter Tierga lies about her father and to this day, Tierga hates Orsis, something that troubles him deeply.

Orsis was relocated to the Weyr and soon forgot about his troubles with Falgra. He met, fell in love with and married Rilana, a kitchenworker. To their disappointment, Rilana was barren but, determined to not let this get them down, became a fostermother instead. Orsis' first "son" was Xalarek, the child of a bronzerider. Later on, Ayulen joined them. Finally, seven turns after Xalarek was born, when Orsis was thirty, the twins Surrad and Salnuri joined the family.

Orsis moved into the Weyrhealer's Second position a turn after he became a master at thirty three. He expected to stay in this position for a long time but fate had other plans. The Weyrhealer had a heart attack just five turns after Orsis had taken the position and he was chosen to succeed him. At thirty-nine, he was old enough to lead but Orsis felt self-doubt, gradually washed away by Rilana's encouragements.

Orsis had great pride in watching his two oldest "sons" Impress at separate Hatchings, Xalarek taking the bronze Calderith and Ayulen walking away with blue Veloth. Orsis continued to stay in contact with the newly made riders and now has yet another chance to see his "sons" grow up, as Surrad and Salnuri have started to Stand as Candidates.
