Physical Description: Though not overly tall, Ghikena is an imposing woman. The few years of dragon riding and lugging heavy sacks of surveying gear over rugged terrain have given her impressive strength. She has powerful shoulders and arms of a type more often associated with smiths than gold riders. Her legs are strong, with well-defined muscles. Since impressing she has become leaner, her curves are more prominent. In the loose-fitting trousers and tunics she favors for everyday wear, she might be mistaken for a man at a distance. Even her walk is a businesslike long stride. Her posture is very straight, almost stiff. Her authority is obvious, even to those outside the Weyr. She wears it as clearly as her shoulder knots, in her stance and in the tilt of her head. Her dark hair is cut short in a tumble of bronze waves. She is in the habit of running her hands through her hair. Despite this, it seldom looks actually untidy, and the loose style softens her look considerably.

Ghikena's eyes are a piercing dark gray. Riders requiring a reprimand often feel that those gray eyes can search the very depths of her being. That may not be true, but those eyes are quick to spot anything out of place in her Weyr, from a disorganized storeroom to a bronze rider�s odd behavior. Her cheekbones are high, and her jaw line is strong. Even asleep, she has a determined look.

Emotional Description: Ghikena tends to be very focused on what she considers important. She weighs the safety and well-being of her Weyr first, that of all the other Weyrs second and the Pernese people as a whole, third. Her craft, her own preferences and her own family come much farther down the list. Every word and action is carefully calculated to ensure those priorities are respected. She does nothing on the spur of the moment. Even her emotional displays are carefully calculated for effect. Her manner is usually brisk and businesslike. She is friendly, but has few close friends. She maintains contact with her family, but remains separate from their lives. Ghikena takes the long view in everything. How will this decision affect the Weyr over the next Interval, the next Pass? These questions are foremost in her mind.

Though she thinks things through, she remains action oriented, despising people who think deeply and do nothing. In her mind, the result of all of this careful contemplation must be decisive action. In most cases, she feels that any decision is better than no decision.

Brief History: Ghikena was born and raised in the Mining Hall, so it was no surprise to her journeyman parents when she took up an apprenticeship at the age of twelve. They gifted her with a firelizard egg when she entered the Hall, in the hopes that a well-trained flit would be an asset to someone working underground or in out-of-the-way places.

When she became a Junior Journeywoman, a blue dragon made it known that she would be a suitable candidate for Ista�s upcoming hatching. Thinking that a green dragon would be an asset to her in her craft, particularly given a specialty in surveying and prospecting, she agreed to stand on the Sands.

It was two Hatchings later that she actually impressed. Intensely focused on the hatching of a green dragonet, she had not even noticed golden Jyieth shattering her shell. The gold made her way to the young miner, butting her imperiously in the small of the back, demanding to be fed. Ghikena spun in shock, soon replaced by the joy of the dragon-rider bond.

Pets: Arthur - Brown Flit - 8 turns - Arthur is a very light brown in color. His wing sails have patches of darker brown. His face is a dark brown in color. Arthur is a rather small brown flit, but his wings are oversized.

Arthur is not your typical brown he his very active. He very rarely sleeps and when he does it is usually right next to Ghikena and only after she has fallen asleep then he moves over to sleep with Jyieth. Arthur helps Ghikena bath Jyieth and in return she always saves him some of her kill. He also helped with the raising and caring for Jyieth when she was a weyrling he would stay by her side to make sure she would not get into any trouble when his pet was not around the little golden queen.

Description: Jyieth is a deep antique gold, shading to darker at the tips of the wings, head, and tail, the effect when sun catches on her hide is quite stunning, gleaming off every bit of her hide. It's also a shade that shows dirt up rather well, so her rider will have to spend a lot of time scrubbing.

Jyieth is big but not strikingly so. Jyieth is a good, strong queen. She produces large clutches and is most noted for her wings. Due to meticulous care, Jyieth has a smooth, strong hide that is free from score marks.

Personality: Jyieth is as sunny as her coloring and merrily playful. She dotes on flits. She would have every firelizard in the Weyr hanging off her if she could.

Jyieth usually prefers to remain around the bronze dragons, as she is a flirt. The other colors get her "She Who Must Be Obeyed" demeanor. She knows her place as a gold dragon and sometime uses that to her advantage. Through care of her lifemate, Jyieth has learned that life depends upon all colors and status of dragons. Jyieth respects the other dragons around her. However, if she would have her choice, she would prefer to be around a bronze at all times. Jyieth pays close attention to her rider, learning from her mistakes, as well as providing a tender reassurance. However, with this reassurance, Jyieth prefers to be frank with Ghikena.

Strenghts: She has great endurance. Her first mating Flight ended up with the bronze dragon that had the most endurance on that particular day winning her, as she simply KEPT flying. Because of her size, she is more agile in the air than some of the larger Gold�s, thus being very good at air rescues for the Dragonriders and for the smaller dragons.
