he has just enough muscle to be fleshed out. There is
a fading Threadscar on his right shoulder from when he
was younger.
Emotional Description: D'clay is a paternal man, with
a great love for youngsters. He enjoys helping with
the weyrling lessons whenever he can. He is usually
seen with a smile and has not much of a temper, but is
firm and coolheaded. He knows how to get people to
listen to him when its needed. He is loyal and
reliable, courteous to women and an all-around
gentleman.
Brief History: D'clay is the second son of bronzerider
Cl'ton and goldrider Darlen. He grew up at Fort Weyr,
fostered like his older brother Dalton. Darclay and
Dalton were inseparable as youths but never much of
troublemakers. Both were apprenticed as dragonhealers
at the age of twelve but Dalton's apprenticeship was
cut short when he Impressed Colth.
Darclay always dreamed of riding a dragon and as soon
as he was able, stood at every Hatching he could. He
continued his studies as dragonhealer in the
meanwhile, rising to senior apprentice. In his
seventeenth Turn however, he joined his brother in
ranks of weyrlinghood by Impressing Nikoleth. D'clay
and Nikoleth were apt students, displaying diplomacy
and leadership early on. There was no doubt that the
pair would one day lead a wing, possibly the Weyr.
But D'clay didn't have his eyes on leadership. His
sights, instead, were set on love and starting a
family. Hardly any of the Fort female riders shared
his dream but by luck, D'clay met Oderra, a
journeywoman weaver at the Weyr. They were weyrmated
and sure enough, Oderra soon discovered she was
pregnant. Dayclod was born in D'clay's twenty-fifth
Turn. Unfortunately, Oderra died in childbirth and
D'clay, unable to raise his son because of his duties,
had to foster Dayclod to another.
Somewhere around D'clay's thirtieth birthday, he
received news that both his father and his brother had
died while rescuing holders from a fire. Devastated,
D'clay sought to escape from his grief, in the arms of
another weaver named Trahana. His second son Tarclay
was born the next Turn. But the Weyr held too much
grief for D'clay and he decided to transfer to
Kalarak, taking young Dayclod with him. Tarclay
followed soon afterwards when his mother succumbed to
illness and died.
Kalarak seemed to be a better place for D'clay, who
now desired to spend as much time with his sons as
possible. He refused any leadership positions,
stepping in only as wingthird once until a replacement
was found. Dayclod seemed suited to follow in his
father's footsteps and Impress, but by the boy's
twentieth Turn, he still a Candidate. Tarclay,
however, expressed minor interest in Impressing and
turned to tailoring, which D'clay support faithfully.
A family ruggedly made, D'clay decided that his
energies were better put to use helping the youngsters
of the Weyr, especially when Kalarak was crippled by
the loss of its queens.

Dragon name: Nikoleth
Dragon color: bronze
Age: 29
Fighting Wing: Cloudchasers
Adult Size: medium-large
Description: Nikoleth is a light bronze color with
olive undertones to his hide. He bears a Threadscore
on his right wing but has an otherwise perfect form.
He mirrors his rider in build, slim with enough muscle
to him to not be too skinny.
Personality: Nikoleth is, not surprisingly, an exact
copy of his rider. He is courteous to all, no matter
what rank, firm, and fatherly. Nikoleth and D'clay
would make excellent Weyrlingmasters if they ever
accepted. But instead, the bronze likes to help out
here and there. He's not much of a skirt-chaser and
will only join a flight if D'clay allows.
Strengths/Weaknesses: quick at maneuvers
Craft: dragonhealer
Rank: senior apprentice
