The next three poems are by a friend I met in a group. They were so beautiful I am honored to include them in the collection.
PRAYER OF A WOMAN
Hey, what should I say
to pour out my mind
to dismantle this prison
and release the me inside
My fingers ponder
the sound on keys so hollow
how desperate i tried
to send my feeling through

I need no riches, I crave not fame,
Embraces are so empty, promises so vague
On a cold morning like this
as I brave the crest of icy blue
And this thing called Life
that carries me through highs and lows

I desire not adoration, I want not praise,
How fleeting the glories, how cruel the truth,
All I ever dream of
is to cradle between sheets
someone to share my worries,
someone to warm my feet,
to stop my body from shaking,
to tell me it is alright
that whatever may come tomorrow
we still have tonight.

Lovers I had plenty,
pledges made and betrayed,
Now I see through it.
Lonliness is order of the day.
But how I need a tender hug,
and a hand to dry my tears
On this cold and dismal morning,
All I need is a friend.

Notes from the author: this was written on a cold winter morning on a daily ferry trip to work for a friend.

SUMMER SNOW
(dedicated to Andy)
I close my eyes and the flakes begin to float,
So effortless, so light in theri gentle dance,
A silent chorus, a witness to love
Memories
Long frozen in the sapphire blue
Begins to stir
I see your face and life starts
Its gentle caress once more

Our fingers lock
You gently paddle me towards the shimmering light
I feel the warmth now
Currents born of our linking hearts
I fear no more
Though a sadness still lingers as I hear
Farewell's clarion echoing from the fathomless deep
You turn and smile
And I return with mine
Come what may next summer
This one is ours
