The bus ride to Mt. Cook took forever. It was beautiful, though. We finally arrived around 4:40 and I got checked into my room. I walked to the visitor's center and picked up a map of the hiking trails around the park.
I decided to hike to a lookout point about 5km from the hostel. It was a great walk. Snow was everywhere! I could see several patches that looked like the remains of avalanches. I finally got to the lookout point. It was gorgeous. Right behind me in this picture you can see the ridges left in the land by the receding glaciers.
Above is one of those glaciers. I can't remember the name of it, though. I have a lot more pictures of the Mt. Cook area, but they aren't developed yet. I'll add more when I get them.
