Other Things

This is the spot where I'm going to put the other strange SfS stuff that pops into my head. Like, Tarrot Readings and random songfics.

Hello

Song by Evenescence

'Playground school bell rings again... such a lonely sound.'

Kaiyou lifted a hand to brush her recently hacked off hair from her eyes as it fluttered in the stiff breeze but it fell right back into place. It was so much shorter now than she'd ever had it before... not that she really remembered how long it had been before now. But she knew that it had been recently cut. In the distance, she could hear the church bells ringing, five o'clock. The chains of the swings on either side of her rattled like the bonds placed on ghosts, haunting the playground, just as she was.

'Rain clouds come to play again...' she mused, thinking it fitted her mood quite well.

Above, the sky was darkening, threatening to open up soon. She knew she should get up and go home, but she had no real desire to do so. Why should she when she would find no warmth, no acceptance there. She would only find screaming fights between her fellow foster siblings, accusations hurled at her from her new foster parents who had quickly grown disillusioned with her and after the noise, that awful angry silence. It was worse than the screaming.

A sound drew her attention feet crunching through the shale of the playground. Kaiyou didn't bother lifting her head. "Kaiyou?" a female voice asked.

'Has no one told you she's not breathing?' Kaiyou retorted mentally. 'She died, alone, and cold on a winter morning, in a land far away from here.'

'Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to,' a familiar voice whispered back.

"Hello..." the woman said, the school councilor, Kaiyou realized, recognizing the voice as she leaned down to look at Kaiyou's face. "I noticed that you were still here..." she said. Kaiyou didn't want to talk to her, didn't want to talk to anyone.

The woman came closer, ignoring Kaiyou's silence and sat on the swing to the girl's left. "I know it seems tough, moving to a new school, but you'll make friends soon, I'm sure," the woman said, looking off towards the school as she kicked her feet on the ground.

'If I smile and don't believe,' Kaiyou sighed softly, 'will she go away?' A chill breeze pulled Kaiyou's short, ragged hair as she stared down at the ratty boy's pants she was wearing. These were the clothes she'd gotten for herself at the thrift store before coming to this new school. Her foster parents certainly hadn't been happy with that, but after what had happened before ... before... Kaiyou didn't remember what had happened, but she knew now that being mistaken for a boy was a good thing. A very good thing.

Still, the councilor insisted on trying to get Kaiyou to say something, "Kaiyou, you do need to try a little, you know. Friends don't just show up out of nowhere."

'Soon I know I'll wake from this dream,' Kaiyou told herself, closing her eyes, wishing the woman would just go away. 'To a place of ice, a sanctuary only I know about, where I'll bury all the memories that hurt me.'

"Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken," Kaiyou said softly, mostly beneath her breath.

The woman cocked her head to the side, brown eyes confused as she leaned over, "what was that you said?"

'Hello, I'm the lie, living for you so you can hide,' Kaiyou thought bitterly at the woman. 'So you can continue to pretend that there's nothing wrong about this world...' Tears stung her eyes.

'Don't cry...' the back of her mind whispered back.

Sitting up, Kaiyou opened her eyes, staring towards the school, "I'm fine, Miss," she said as she stood and above, the sky opened up, pouring rain down upon the pair. The councilor woman yelped and got to her feet again.

'Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping,' Kaiyou realized as the rain soaked her within seconds. The councilor woman was trying to get her to move, but Kaiyou shook her off. "I'd better go home."

"I'll give you a ride," the woman offered.

Frowning slightly, still without looking at the woman, Kaiyou shook her head and turned, walking off, "No. Thank you, Ma'am." 'I'd rather be alone. I'm better off alone.'

'Hello, I'm still here...' that familiar voice whispered, caressing the silence in her head, a reassuring presence. The only friend Kaiyou had ever had where all else had been ripped away.

'All that's left of yesterday...' Kaiyou realized, as she clutched the pendant of her necklace. 'is frozen memories, hidden in time.'

Just a short conversation I had with Herald Aros about ch54.

Aloria: got to the new stuff yet?
Herald Aros: *nods* Yep, just hit GFs...
You're seriously evil, you know that? Got my hopes up, then no...then made me o_O and then no again (though why Leon would talk about girlfriends is beyond me...>>;;;)
Aloria: girlfriends?
Aloria: guardian forces
Aloria: did I write girlfriends?
Herald Aros: GF = GirlFriend
That's the time I went o_O
Aloria: LOL
Aloria: LOL!!!!
Herald Aros: XD
Aloria: LMAO
Aloria: Hadn't thought of it that way, but still, Sora's reaction of "huh?" works
Herald Aros: *nods* Yeah! That kinda had me going. It looks like Sora was thinking "GF = GirlFriend" and was WTFing 'cause this is Leon.
Aloria: *Just ROLLZ*
Aloria: well, anyone who's at least familiar with FF8 would know what 'GF' stands for in FF8 lol, which is what I meant 'GF' to mean and yeah. but yeah. I like your interpretation SO much
Herald Aros: XD *not familiar with FF8* Anybody who's not played the game is gonna spot that. And...if Leon or anybody does it for Kaiyou, maybe she could comment. >>;;; Just a thought.
Aloria: lol
Aloria: Lol
Aloria: omg lol
Herald Aros: XD You okay?
Aloria: got a stitch in my side now
Aloria: <3 you
Herald Aros: ^_^ <3 you too.
