Q: OK, first off what the heck is a kaiju?
A: Glad you asked! Kaiju is the japanese word for "monster" and is commonly used to describe monsters such as Godzilla. The correct term for Godzilla would be Daikaiju, which is "Giant Monster", but most people shorten it to kaiju. The name of this site , Kaijutopia, is made by combining the words kaiju, and utopia (a utopia is a fictional land of supreme happiness).

Q: What is Kaijutopia?
A:
Kaijutopia is a fan site originally started by Matthew Boyce (AKA Reapergoji). It was a webcomic ripoff/tribute to Twisted Kaiju Theater , but never got past the first episode due to time constraints, combined with the fact that the camera used for the comic was junk, so naturally the comic wasnt very appealing to the eye. Fastforward to 2004 - Having become skilled in designing web graphics, ReaperGoji decides he wants to start up his kaiju site again...but with a different focus. He invites Jon Bumpus (AKA Angilas) to be his partner, and together they begin working on the new Kaijutopia.

Q: What's the point of Kaijutopia?
A:
Kaijutopia's main focus is keeping the genre alive by encouraging talented artists and writers to develope NEW kaiju stories and designs. We also want to provide a place for new fans of the genre to learn more about their obsession with men in rubber-monster suits smashing fake buildings. That is why we provide the Reviews section and the Profiles section so you can learn more about a particular movie or kaiju. For the long-time kaiju fan, we offer in-depth articles, analyzing different aspects of kaiju fandom from the basic to the more advanced topics.

Q: Would you guys be interested in my Godzilla vs (insert kaiju here) fanfic?
A:
For the most part, no. We want to promote entirely new series and kaiju. Reason being that your Godzilla vs Whitney Houston fanfic will never be published, unless you have the insane amount of money to buy the rights to use Godzilla. We want new and exciting kaiju and not 500 Fanfics titled: Godzilla X Gamera X Bagan: Really Big Fight. Does all this mean we think your fanfic is a bad thing? Absolutely not. Fanfics are great ways for fans to express their love for the genre, but its just not what were looking for. However, eventually we will have forums and there will be a section for fanfics.

Q: Man this has been a lot of reading. Can I get a drink?
A:
Sure go ahead. I'll wait...........................Good! your back. let's continue.

Q: What is the KBG?
A:
KBG stands for the Kaiju Breeding Grounds, and its the section of this site where you can find all those new and exciting kaiju designs and stories I've been going on so much about.

Q: I would like to submit my kaiju to the KBG. How do I do this?
A:
Stories and designs can be sent to either [email protected] OR [email protected]. Upon review, we will give you our decision on whether or not it will be featured in the KBG. The reason for our limited acceptance is space. We only have so much room, and we want to use that space to put the best kaiju stories and designs in. Don't be discouraged if yours does not make the cut, because eventually there will be a place to put your stories and kaiju.

Q: Can I submit an article?
A:
Sure you can! It will go through the same review process as mentioned above. If it makes the cut it will be featured in the articles section of the site. Please take your writing submissions seriously, and on a valid topic. Try and avoid writing an article for the site unless you are confident in your abilities.

Q: You've talked a lot about submitting things to the site, but will I get credit for it?
A:
You're darn right you will! Anything you produce will have your name on it, rest assured!

Q: Can I use articles/reviews/other stuff featured on your site on my fan site?
A:
Sorry, but no. If everyone featured our original items on their site, then there would be nothing special about Kaijutopia.

Q: Anything else I need to know?
A:
Have fun and enjoy the kaiju genre! Its a vast and wonderful world with a great community and loyal fanbase. We hope you will find Kaijutopia helpful, informative, and just plain fun. After all we are fans ourselves. If you have any comments or suggestions email Angilas or ReaperGoji at [email protected] or [email protected]. And most of all, this site is FOR KAIJU FANS - BY KAIJU FANS - KAIJUTOPIA!
