BISAYANG
KUSGAN It
has been nearly 25 years since the founding of the Org sa mga BISAYANG
KUSGAN. Our
organization’s humble roots from Butuanon
students to its meteoric ascent encompassing ALL BISAYA SPEAKING UPLB student
from Aparri to Jolo has
been a amazement and a wonder to behold. Our
organization has been true to our goal as the “home away from home”,
for our resident members and even for alumni who visit UPLB once in a while. Our
organization has been the embodiment of its namesake. Kaiban
is a Butuanon word synonymous to Kauban in Bisaya which
literally means Companion; Cohort; Escort; Buddy… and Friend. Our
BISAYA FAMILY has survived factions, turmoils,
financial depressions, and has emerged stronger than ever before. Until
today, UPLB KAIBAN has never expired as an organization. Its continuous
recruitment has provided stability to the future of the organization,
ensuring perpetuity of the BISAYANG KUSGAN. At
present, the organization has dynamic members and is still fostering closer
relationship and camaraderie, not only to their fellow Bisaya,
but also to other students in the university and sponsoring activities which
contribute to the betterment of the whole UPLB community. Our
organization has evolved. From our drunken tambayan
days we have turned into an academically conscious organization with a sense
of social purpose, supporting student activist movements, holding massively
popular dance parties, upholding camaraderie through inter-organization sportsfests, among others. But
of course, the organization is still the same family that is fun to be with,
and beer smashing, tambayan wrecking, wall
vandalizing, street sign stealing, porno marathon, videoke
contests are of course still here to stay. UPLB
Kaiban has changed, but then again, it really hasn’t. MGA BISAYANG KUSGAN GYUD! |
