DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE!!!!
TESLA COIL PAGE.
Here are some of my past and currant tesla coils. The coils towards the top of the page are the earliest and the latest developments are towards the bottom.

Frist some basics to get you going....these were helpful to me

How to measure the secodary resonace...
Calculating the primary resonace components given the secondary frequency plus one known L or C value...
This is proably the most important and helpfull calculation you may ever encounter. To begin with you must perform the above test to determine the secondary's resonant frequency. Once armed with this you can then measure what capacitors (C) you have or the Primary coil Inductance (L) you must have at least the frequency plus one other known value.

The equation for this is:

(1 over (6.2831 x Sec frequency in herts)) squared

for 400Khz = (1/(6.2831 x 400000)) = 1.5831E-13 over L or C

with the result, which might be very small. (recomed to use a scientific calculator) Divide the result by whatever you have. The figures must be quoted in L or C so farads or henries.
I used a calcultor with an engineering function so the figures could be entered in milli or pico and the sum would be correct. the end result gives you the needed C or L. It gives L if you enter known C.etc and vis vesa. L for C and C for L.
MK1 09/11/03 -first contact- :)
My first coil, 5" sparks to ground mesh
this was my first ever attempt at making a tesla coil from my junk box. And it worked much to my surprise! I did make some experimental secondaries in the past but i had never lerned how to determine the resonant frequency. and with some usfull equations I managed to build MK1. The arcs are small on this coil, only 5" but it was plently enough for me to start making better ones :) supply is 2000v with static gaps and PV caps 100nf each 1kv

I have canibalised the MK1 to make way for MK2. waaaa....
MK2  18/11/03 -going thurther-

MK2 is a little device compaired with MK1, only standing 30cm tall! but depite its small size and feeble looks MK2 is quite a deadly beast with 7" arcs!!

this one resonates at about produces about 5.5 inch sparks peaking to 6.5 inches. this is acompanied by a bright glow of corona dishcage :) you can see remains of MK1 in the photo. there is a corona dome on the upper most part of the coil. still 2000v in.
this device produced dencer corona and was my best creation before MK3
