Poo Trail #773
Harry was born on July 31, 1997 and was adopted from a petshop on
October 31, 1997. He was an Agouti American/Silkie mix. He was an only
pig for quite some time and was very jealous when we got Martin. They became good friends and Harry was quite welcoming to Pika and Bleys.
His favorite food was parsley and his hobbies included sleeping, ringing
his bell for food, begging for food, running circles on the floor and making eyes at Pika. We did not have him neutered as we didn't want him to have unnecessary surgery. Since Pika was spayed, we didn't need to "tutor" him. Everypig and critter were invited to their virtual wedding.
He attended the virtual Corn Festival in Normal, IL, Krewe
of Cavy '99 and won the gold medal for high jump at the first
Pigglyimpics
in England. He also participated in the second Pigglyimpics. GOOOO Harry!
We were deeply saddened when he passed away on February 4, 2003. He was 5 1/2 years old and starting to have trouble with his joints/arthritis. My vet and I thought that was the majority of his lethargy problem.
As there was no improvement with the pain killers and he was actually less responsive, I made an emergency trip to Seattle to see Dr. Deeb (THE expert in the area) and she diagnosed him with a telescoping of his intestine (one section of intestine had retracted into the next section). This caused a blockage and painful gas. We tried to stabalize his so he could undergo surgery, but it was too much for his system. He passed on quietly with me at one of my guinea pig friends' house.
He and Martin (who died November 2002) were my first two "children" with my husband, Chester. He is no longer in pain and has been reunited with his piggie love, Pika.
