Marmot Bob Pig's Page

What can I say about Bob. He came to our family on August 2, 2003 at the age of 2 (estimated). He had already been in at least two homes where he wasn't well treated. The home he was coming to me from had a 3 year old and a 12 year old who no longer wanted to care for him. So the family was "trading him in" for a puppy. They were actually on their way to pick up the puppy when they dropped him off to me. Before that he had been living with a woman who gave him up because he blended into her black couch too well and she kept sitting on him. This family also included two teenage boys who, I have been told, killed their pet rat. Needless to say Bob was a bit shy, uncertain about humans, and not quite sure how to be a pig.

Bob is a beautiful black American short hair with a little butt sweep that makes me think he has a bit of silkie in him. He has the tiniest speck of white on his nose and in a couple places on his body. He has learned to demand his food and to run and play in the hay. He loves his carrots and enjoys a bit of greens each night, but his favorite is his morning vitamin and raisin.

We have been fostering Bob while looking for just the right home. We knew we couldn't take him in permanently (even though both humans were in love with him) because we don't have the time, space, or cage mate he needs. Fortunately, I have found a home that I think will be perfect for him. The mother and two children are very kind, generous, and loving. They are devoted to Bob and began making plans for his arrival long before the adoption became final. They will take permanent custody of him on November 21, 2003.

Although, I will be very sad to see him go, I know that this is the best thing for him. He will get the family he deserves and the love and attention he sorely needs. And, I know that I'll be able to stop by and see him occasionally and will get to pigsit too.
