If you have discovered a virus on your machine or suspect you have a virus, try these tips before running to your local tech specialist:



                                     
One big problem with Norton antivirus is that in my experience, it detects viruses but is not good at getting rid of them. The program will literally refuse. In this situation, I usually switch to AVG antivirus and let it get rid of the virus.

        
Remember: you must uninstall your old antivirus before switching to a new one!!

If you have a blue screen there is one easy tip to try if you have a laptop.

1. Remove the battery. (completely remove from power source)
2. Press and hold the power button for 30 sec.
3. Reinsert the battery/power supply.
4. Turn on the computer.

Problem solved?
Sometimes the RAM on a computer gets clogged up. Cleaning it allows windows to run.

Problem not solved?
Sorry it doesn't fix all blue screen issues
This might sound obvious, but if AVG or whichever antivirus you use gives you the name of a virus on your machine, Google it. Often symantec or another trusty source has easy to follow, printable, step by step removal instructions.

I don't want to put myself out of buisness but, it
can actually be a rewarding experience to solve a computer problem, and it might not be as hard as you think!!
