The Philippine Eagle and the Philippine Eagle Foundation
An estimated 200 birds survived in the mid 1980s. The status on Leyte and Samar is not known; there may be around 50 pairs on Luzon; few too are known to survive on Mindanao. As a whole, it is estimated that about 100 to 250 pairs of the species still live. However, some areas have not yet been surveyed and despite its large size, this species remains quite poorly known.
